That seems pretty pricey for
Oil/filter change
top off fluids
replace cabin air filter
change wipers
Look over the car for obvious issues.
Should be about $200 max.
The only reason for paying $500 for this is fear of not checking something
important.
Edmunds lists the service B, with brake fluid flush and coolant flush, which are not really part of service B.
If one leaves out the brake/coolant flushes, the Edmunds estimate for Service B is about $209.40. With the flushes, it comes to $319.81. This is estimated from zipcode San Jose/Sunnyvale, which is not the cheapest area for labor.

On 2003, service is free to 50k (or 48k?) miles or 4 years, whichever comes first.
I have only 36k miles, but warranty is up, due to time.
I may do my own Service B, considering the prices that are being charged.
I might pay someone $250 to do service B, but anymore is really highway robbery.

The only reason to have it done at a dealer is to create a record, on the MB system, that confirms your maintenance history.
Frankly, that's the last A or B service I'll have done at a dealer. I will do my own, or use an independent, and keep my own records.
Thiere is value, however, to having the car looked over, particularly since it's still under warranty. They seem to find issues every time.

not much help to you chaps across the pond but i'm having mine in next week,
total cost will be in the region of 500 GBP or about 900 or so USD,
although this does include having the wipers updated to the latest type, but still spare a thought for us poor brits and our outrageous prices
p.s ....this is at an independant ...the dealer would have been a lot more

Just got off the phone with Glauser Mecedes Benz of Westminster, CO and it's 325 for service A and 525 for Service B. Ask what the difference is and the B just includes checking ball joints and lubing them. Nothing different everything down the list is check this check that and not even replacing anything. I guess I'm doing my own oil changes after I get the oil extraction pump.

They do a lot of there things on ur car for service B, like tire rotate and some other testing u can get ur dealer to give u a full list of what they do to ur car for service B, the list is like 2 pages long i think and when u start knocking off thing that u dont what the dealer to do like the tire rotation and soo on.. the price of the service comes down a lot, but if u let them doo everything then the price is some where close to $500. that is what i paid for my first service, but then from that point on it was like $280 or something like that, because i took off a lot of things that they use to do for no reason, but for service they chx the air-bags, seatbelt ESP, ABS (i think) and like a whole lot of other ****...
on my old car in Service B my seatbelt did not chq out properly and they had to replace the whole unit under warranty, soo service B i think is an important 1 I’d prefer getting mine done at Benz.

500$ without differential/brake fluid change? That's a lot man. I think the only incentive to get everything checked is to replace the broken parts when the car in under warranty. For c55 tire rotation is not an option, so pretty much 500$ for nothing

My dealer quote me $500 fro service B!!
All they are doing is
oil change, changing wiper blades, a/c filter and toping off fluids (if needed) and check for problems...
You probably can get this done at midas for around $150.. or i may do it for myself...
I'm thinking about taking my car to dealer though... just to be safe...
I hope they'll give me a nice replacement car for me to beat the living **** out of.. ^^

Does the car determine what service to get as in the on board dash saying it needs B or A service. Because mine is due in 1700 miles and if it doesn't say it again for another 10-15k miles then I will go to the stealership because I drive the car only about 5k miles a year.

This can't be at a dealership as the service A is already about 300 bills.

My service B was done at a dealership that is what they charged me. I'm not going to call them and complain either.
