C32 vs. G35?
Has anyone lined up with a G35 stock vs. stock? I've looked up the stock specs on these cars and they have less hp and tq. Are these cars sleepers that need to be taken seriously?
Any info appreciated.

If you plan on lining up against one, just make sure to close your windows or the G35's whiney exhaust may (though this has not been scientifically proven) drive you insane.

A well-driven stock coupe (6-speed) might see 13.90 on a perfect day. The 5AT version runs 14.00-14.60.
The sedan also comes in a six-speed and is lighter than the coupe. This is the fastest model.
The AWD sedan is about as fast, but no slip off the line = dead consistent.
Summary: no contest for a well-driven C32

Thanks guys. That is what I figured, but the owner has a big mouth and makes it sound like it's some killer stock car. He's done many exterior mods, but nothing under the hood (so he says) and from looking at it, there are no obvious mods goin on. Given his confidence and knowing nothing about them, it had me wondering. From the sounds of it he's bluffin his ars off. The whoopin will commence in about an hour once we get off work.
Thanks again and sorry for the seemingly obvious question...

Not to be a spoiler, but a well driven manual tranny G35 coupe can, under optimal circumstances, pull briefly on a C32 if the race starts out in a bad part of the C32 powerband (i.e. from 30 MPH or 65 MPH) and does not last more than 8 seconds or so.
So what would the circumstances be? How about hot weather, full tank of 91octane, spare in the trunk, etc.
Obviously, in a longer race the C32 will whomp on the G35, even if the conditions are not optimal.
Dink lost to a G35 in a short race with his C32, but he also has heavy aftermarket wheels. Search his posts and you will see the story.
All other factors being equal, the C32 will take the G35 without drama.

i have owned a G35 sedan 2003
raced a coupe manual a few times and 350z from a roll a few times
Unless you are rolling on the street in freeway in D mode and he has his right gear ready and the C32 is not ready.. the G35 will beat the C32.
If both have the correct gear and start at the same time.. the difference will be a few car lenghts..
last week on my home from work.
A modded 350z with 19's and exhausts was weaving in and out of traffic trying to catch up.. I was on open boulevard waiting for him.. I was in 2nd at about 35 to 40mph.. (sweet spot)
As soon he was able to catch up to me and line up next to me, we both hit. When I reached 70.. i was 3 cars and pulling away.. very easy and no drama.
Same thing with a G35 coupe on the freeway, from 60 to 110.. 4 to 5 car lenghts
Now... G35 with a Twin Turbo set.. don't even bother.. they will rape the C32, C55 and even a stock E55.
I love this video

The Results!
I wasn't able to get back on last night and post an update to the race, but it was as predicted. We did several runs ranging from a dead stop, ESP on/off, "manual" mode as well as full auto, rolling from 15-110, roll from 60-110, roll from 35-110..all resulted in a win for the C32. The lenghts differed greatly though.
Details on the cars:
Mine - fully stock '02 C32 with the resonators removed, which did nothing for performance as far as I can tell. Sounds nice though. Green filters on the way also. Anyway, I had half a tank of 93 oct with octane booster. (which I run at every fill), two 12" subs, large box, large amp, cap, etc. In other words, the car has allot of extra weight.
His - some custom dual exhaust made at a muffler shop, better filters (but not a completely new intake) AUTO, one 12" sub/box/amp, several cosmetic mods, better plugs, wires (no biggy), also running 93 oct, he had about 1/4 tank.
From a dead stock we were actually dead even until he shifted to second. Every time he would shift I would pull at least a half car and continue to slowly walk away.
From a 15mph roll he jumped ME! The C32 doesnt seem to like to take off at that speed and pulls MUCH better around 30-40 in second vs. 15mph in 1st. Anyway, he would jump about a half a car and then as soon as he would shift we would be even and I would walk from there as before.
From 30+rolling start, not even close! That was by far the biggest *** whoopin handed of all the races. By the time I climbed to about 110mph and started to slow he was at LEAST 4 lenghts back.
We did have a suprise visitor line up for a couple of the runs. I'm not sure of the year but it looked to be a 2005 or 2006 SL500. Nice looking car but he would have been better of not lining up. His results were less than satisfactory. There seems to be a big difference between the SL500 and the 550!
Oh, and when it came time to put up or shut up, my buddy wouldn't put money down on the race.lol Thanks again for the info guys. He has a "pretty" car, but no AMG!

ver nice write up...
please post this on the kill section.
your findings are very similar to my runs..
but under 2900 we have no torque, and the the G35 has really good low end torque, but lousy top end. So, keep that in mind next time.
I think the generation G35 will keep some of the torque down low, but it shift its power to top end with more revs and smoother power delivery. The 2007 looks nice. The interior space on the sedan is really good for its weight and size vs the competition.

2003 C32 AMG BLACK
i've noticed
I raced a I/E/CHIP 6-speed with a helluva driver... pulled 1 car in 1st, 2 in 2nd, like 5+ in third. I was rather impressed with the guy's driving skills, but it was no match for my stock 03.

raced a coupe manual a few times and 350z from a roll a few times

1. that is the interior of a c5 z06
2. i have seen perhaps 2 out of 100 fast FI'd vq35's and all have had at least one major failure and if not then have had it in the future.
3. even the fast ones according to vq standards are not fast by any means. i DESTROYED them in my cammed/exhaust/intake c5 z06.
4. you will very very very rarely find an fi'd vq that can keep up with a c55 and forget about the e55.

Nice! Yeah, the G35 shouldn't even be compared to the C32. All I can say is if the C32 or C55 were manuals, my goodness those cars would be dangerous from the word 'Go!'...
