Leather Products

I am going to go away from the watered down Lexol products and am thinking of using Connolly Leather products.

Was wondering what you guys have been using to treat your leather and where is the best place on the web (or in town, Md/Va/DC) to get them.

TIA

People love the product from Leatherique and I have seen it work wonders on some vehicles. You cant go wrong with that product line.

I personally love my Griots Garage Leather Care and Interior Cleaner. It leaves a very natural clean looking leather with no additional shine. Leather should have a natural look and most conditioners tend to make the leather shiiiinnnny and ugly. Griots Garage Leather Care leaves a slight shine until it is soaked into the leather and then it is totally natural looking. The leather is also very soft and will stay soft for months.

Try either one.

Another vote for Leatherique. Brought my couch back also. Great stuff - did wonders on my alcantara as well.

Thanks for the replies guys!

one more Q: with the Leatherique, does it work well with the perferations in the seats?

Depends on what you mean. If you find the major thread here about Leatherique, they go into perforations. There are the perforations we have on our C32 seats in the form of visible holes in the leather (btw, leatherique has no problem with this - you apply the product with your hands and it soaks into the leather enough that I've never seen it pool there at all), or if you mean perforations in that some leather seats have a 'perforated' protectant on them - it's like a sealant, and concensus from this discussion was that it would just require more applications IIRC.

I like and use the Zaino Bro. products including the leather protection. It goes on smooth, it seams to protect, and I love the new leather smell.

Griots Garage is far easier to use with the same results. If your leather is ultra shinny or very dirty leatherique may be better since its process, when done correctly, can get more oil off the surface of the leather.

I dont have really drity greasy seats so the cleaner from griots garage is more than enough to remove all dirt and oil in my once ever 3-4 month cleanings.

Both are good but leatherique needs to soak in over night while griots garage does not. you can do 2-3 coats of griots garage leather care in an hour and get a very well conditioned interior and STILL drive the car that night when yo go out.

I haven't tried that, but for the regular cleaning/maintenance, I use the Meguiars. For the smooth leather areas, I use the 'gold class' I think it's called - kind of a white/yellow paste that you rub and work in - soft, but dry afterwards for the perforated areas I've been using this foam they have and that's fine and doesn't get stuck in the hole/perforations like the paste does. I did try the Griots buffer, wax, and polish and so I was thinking about the leather stuff, but everyone says Lexol is the ****, so I'm going to try that next.

ugh I have not used Lexol since the 1990's. The minute I started trying other products I realized Lexol was not all that wonderful. It also needs a long time to sink in and it leaves the leather very slippery and shinny.

Griots Garage sends out catalogs about every 2 months or so if you are on their mailing list or you can visit GriotsGrarage.com and order there (or request a catalog).

I have tried almost everything for interiors and exteriors and have found a selection of products I rarely change at this point.

My latest change was away from Zaino to BlackMagic Wet Diamond Synthetic wax and MFJ Cerama-clear polishes.

In the end 1/2 the quality of the finish is in the method of application and the rest lies in the product. The best product used in a less than skilled method will never look as good as a car with lower grade products with great preparation and application.
