Xenon vs. Bi-xenon
#2
xenon is for your low-beams, you have a seperate bulb for high beams...bi-xenons has both built into one bulb.
you also have a projector style housing with the bi-xenon setup, looks and performs much better IMO...

I believe... it is marketing guff. I've met so many people who think bi-xenon means that both low and ful beams are xenon gas discharge lamps. This is not true. High bean is stilll halogen.
Bi-xenon lights simply mean that the xenons do not turn off when you switch on to high beam.
BTW, FastC32s answer was much more impressive than mine and I am waiting to be corrected as i am not sure about any of it aside from the fact high beams are still halogen as xenon's have a slight delay so are unsuitable for switching on and off.

...anybody here REALLY knows what bi xenons are?!?!?!
bi xenons are projector style headlights with 1 xenon bulb...when HIGH BEAM is engaged, the headlight will fire up 1 HALOGEN high beam bulb IN COMBINATION with lowering a cover that sits in between of the PROJECTOR and it's REFLECTOR to EMIT MORE XENON LIGHT.
so there is 1) MORE xenon light & 2) a halogen high beam bulb
greetingz,

Bi-xenons give you much better light on high beam. More of it and a better color match to the low beams (because the xenon lamp stays on). I just traded a 2001 S55 (xenon) for a 2006 S65 (bi-xenon) and no longer covet the bi-xenons in my wife's C55.

here it goes
bixenon simply means that your xenon bulb is used for both high and low beam. When you hit the hi-beam switch two things happen: 1) a high beam hallogen bulb lights up 2) Your regular lowbeam xenon bulb gets a lot brighter. Why does it "get brighter"? Because there's a mechanical part that opens up the lens of the lowbeam projector completely, allowing all the light to reflect. In "lowbeam" mode, this mechanical part is always down and restricts the amount of light that comes out.
bixenons headlight assemblies are also clear, project the light better and look sexy. I got me some.
