Hello fellow members - can someone in San Diego check some wheels for me? There is a guy selling a set of AMG rims and he is in San Diego. Would really appreciate if someone can at least stop by to see if they even exist. Guy's name is Terry and his phone number is 858-395-8773. Free Tank of gas anyone!?

Best regards - Carlos

Thanks for the replies guys.

MBHustla - No, the rims are the 18s AMG double spoke. Those you find on the C55/CLK55.

I basically offer him $1,200 plus shipping under my UPS account. He called and said OK right away... kind of gave me a red flag there...

I don't have any extra info on the guy. I told him that I had friends in SD to put in in the spot and see his reaction and he said... "mmm sure, tell them to call me so they can check them out". Still I feel like the guy is bluffing but want to give him the benefit of the doubt and ask for your help...

If someone can call him at 858-395-8773 and say you are Carlos' friend and check them out for me I will paypal $35 for your great help.

Regards - Carlos

I'm going by to see them at 11:30. Is there anything in particular that you want me to look for (other than the existence of the claimed wheels, obviously)?

Thanks Vomit. Basically see if they are real AMG's, if the front tires are new and just overall condition.

I really appreciate your help man.

O.K., here's the skinny:

Saw the wheels. All have small nicks/scuffs around lip. One has significant (maybe one inch long) paint rash on one of the spokes. Could probably be touched up by wheel expert. Tires (2) are in good shape.

How do you tell the OEMs from the repros? The wheels without the tires felt really light to me (lighter than the 17s on my C32), but they had the MBZ part number and say "Made in Austria" on the inside. Terry swears they came off of a CLK55, but I am always dubious (nature of being an atty, I guess).

Carlos, PM me your email address, and I will send you a Paypal invoice.
