just found out about my headlights

well i had bought back in 04 a new c230k with the bixenon option. well i got two months ago a 2002 c32 and since it had the same lights i thought they were bi xenon like the picture but recently found out they r halogen lights instead. i can't believe this car was going for almost 50k back then and no factory bi xenon installed. well i just got two 8000k carlab xenon bulbs and they dont fit cause my car doesn't have xenons.........anyways i need a cheap resolution to this.........i wanted to know if anyone modded there factory halogen to bi xenon and the website an cost please. i will also do a search. i feel like an idiot but i guess its called a lack of knowledge in the buying department.

P.S. SORRY CANT FIND A WAY TO PUT UP PICTURE HERE IS A LINK FOR MY POST A WHILE BACK WITH PICS

check your Halogen bulbs spec and buy a HID kit for that spec. Problem solved.

doesn't carlab sell HID kits as well? But in any case, I've bough several kits from xenondepot.com and they're very high quality. There's also a guy in the 3si.org forums selling hid kits for $200 shipped with a 1 year warranty.

Good luck

i dont think you should buy any HID rebased H7 kit until you see a wall shot
of the beam and the resultant cutoff. not all halogen lens and projectors are
made alike, yet the HID kit professes to fit all (in this case) H7s w/o modification
which is cow dung. Lenses are cut and spec-ed for a specific focal point and in
this case, what is being proposed is to substitute an HID bulb in place of a halo-
gen bulb. There are very few rebased kits which can be made with little loss of
quality...or that the rebased add-on doesn't result in some degree of uncontrolled
glare. that's why i'm suggesting that you try to see a beam photo first...based
on your headlight. the other option is to make the purchase contingent upon
proper performance. ie if glare is predominent, then buyer should be able to get
refund w/o incurring restocking fee.

sorry you had to go through this purchase and only now finding out that your
headlights were not as expected. good luck.

bix wasn't available for me either, but I lucked out: when examining the insides
of the Depo clear lens headlight shell, the mounting points for the projector were
amazingly close to E55...off by .25". so with advice from others who have done
this, I pulled out the halogen projector and dropped in the bix projector from the
E55. one of the easiest HID mods around of all autos.

natch, since it was an HID projector, the focal point was intact. I was able to
switch from fluted to clear lens and the look was given 10 yr upgraded in looks
alone. the improved lighting adds a kaa-kaa grin when night driving.

oh, this was for 99 and 00 E320, just for clarification. if you're similar lucky,
you can try same for your headlight. will require exam and measure of projector
dimensions. then go to HIDPLANET.COM and view their HID UNIVERSITY forum
for specification of many HID projectors. find one that come closest.

first mod took me 2+ weeks because I didn't know what I was doing. lots of
sketching and thinking between steps. the next retrofit took 24 hrs. i'm
in the middle of another one, fitting an RS6 bix for E320. should provide a
better color at the cutoff.

you might want to see if there is someone local to you that can help you out with the install...do you know of anyone with a Mercedes C-class that knows how to install the bi-xenons? might want to check in the C-class section as well if you don't, most of the guys on here are pretty good about helping each other out...

i am going to install mine myself, it is just a matter of removing the bumper...then for you, you would just need to have the xenon preset changed in the computer...

Just received a call from FedEx requesting a completed HS-7 declaration to pacify Customs/NHTSA and allow for importation of my lights from Steve. What a buzz-kill!
Maybe the Feds will just look the other direction, or perhaps I can qualify for amnesty! Any of you have to jump through similar hoops to get your hands on the goods?

**EDIT**
Heard back from Steve/Wanda. Apparantly the HS-7 is SOP. It's been handled. Sunday morning in the garage begets Sunday afternoon cruise with a decent mod. Finally! Thanks MBenzNL.

Its definetly alot cheaper though I would have prefered OEM but all I had to do was order lights and install my Carlab HID 8K kit thats all. My car is in for repairs so all they have to do is install lights if MBenZL sold his products for 6 or 700 I would have bought them. I had to replace my Depo anyways cause both lights adjustment screws were broken. The Carlab 8K HID kit is already installed. The repair were sort of paid for so buying Depo housings with HID kit is a better way to go if one isn't looking to spend alot.
