Secobary CATs Removed Pics and Videos - I Need Opinions

Ok so basically I want to get everyones opinion on what they think. Should I keep the car like this? Should I put the stock secondary CATs back on? Should I get racing CATs to put in its place like the evosport ones? Should I do something else like get a X or H pipe or some pipes that have more of a bend to them? As for if I feel any torque loss from this I can't say because I had this done with several other mods, so the car now feels so much faster then stock, but if I'm losing anything I'm open to do something else.

*The video links are at the bottom*

Here are the stock secondary CATs they are wrap in plastic and I didn't feel like unwrapping them.

Next are several pictures of where the CATs were and the pipes that replaced them.

These videos are basically more or less sound clips. The first one is of what the car sounds like when its been sitting for more then a day and I start it up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrPkO5-bNvg

This next one is of the car warmed up in idle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqDFEOQy4ho

This one is of a warm start.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO1r_j8pA94

This is of me revving the car to between 3K to 4K rpms.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnWLdd46Wlc

Another one of me doing the same.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I85SX4CRAPI

Okay so that's it give me your thoughts good or bad I want to hear them.

Will your car pass its next emissions test ??? I highly doubt it.

Have you also done the resonator delete ?? Ifso your in trouble with your next "smog" test if thats what you call it over there.

Nice sound though.

You won't have trouble passing smog testing even if you have your secondaries and resonator deleted.

Yeah the resonator is gone as well. Here is a pic of the straight pipe in its place.

From what I've been told there is no change in the emissions of the car with this stuff removed.

Only removing the primary CATs affect that.

I just did the same thing and found nothing but power and a very intoxicating sound. There should be no loss of torque by removing those.

It sounds pretty good!

If at all possible would you mind doing a couple clips of you taking off WOT and just normal driving especially on the freeway. I want to hear whether it drones or not at highway speeds. THANKS!

Sounds very nice. What is a "secobary" CAT though?

I don't like it. I'm not flaming, it's something I would try myself, but compared to how a good sized V8 should sound, I just think it's bad and a raspy. Just not my thing is all. The work looks high-quality in any case.

I was actually planning on doing some of that this weekend. I'll post it up probably on Sunday or Monday.

well if your in California you wont pass smog. because of the extensive testing that the state mandates the smog shops over here. " you get fined, loose your licence, and even jail time if the tech cheats your smog test." so it not worth for them to cheat unless you know some one that will risk thier neck for you.

I think the real relevant question is how annoying is the drone or sound in the car on the freeway. I remember back when i was a kid, this guy had an auto civic with simular mods and it gave me a headache on the feeway!!

Agreed. I am not a fan of sound modifications with no power benefit for this very reason. My days with 3 inch piping exhausts for Honda's are over. At least that knocked off 0.4 seconds off my 1/4 mile time.

Thanks for taking the time to do the video clips Raw.

I lived in CA for most of my life. I passed smog a couple years ago even without a cat. You won't have any trouble with a C55 without rear cats or resonator. You'll pass the sniffer test no problem.

I'm not sure how it is on a C55, but on my C32, there is 0 drone during highway crusing with the rear cats and resonator removed. The car sounds stock (silent).

All right I did some some driving videos of the car this weekend. Check them out and let me know what you think of the sound. One thing though the car does sound louder in these clips. Also in all these vids the car was driven in auto S mode.

This one is the car cruising on the freeway.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M65O9uZ1OZw

Here is another freeway cruise, but I'm going a little easier on the throttle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOysRg-_7Vo

This one is just a low speed cruise through a neighborhood.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpdI04v3gFQ

This one is just more of the same.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YkNPQy2ZO8

And last but not least is a WOT. Well, almost I didn't push the throttle in that fast and I didn't take it to kick down.

Again, this is from my C32, but I saw a 0 peak hp gain on the dyno when I removed the secondary cats. I saw no gain when I removed the primary and secondaries.

If you like the sound, keep them off.
You'll love the LSD. Now I don't see how I drove without it

Joe! Just get a set of Random Tech Racing cats. That's what i have on mine, also no res and just straight pipes. Sounds sick!

The vid of the fwy cruise was nice. Didn't even bother to watch the low speed neighborhood cruise.

I don't see the point in high flow cats. They won't give you any more power. Straigh pipe will outflow a high flow, and even that didn't do anything. The only reason I would consider a high flow cat is for tone tuning.
