After market springs vs. warranty

I've serached but haven't found the answer to my question so I'll ask it here...

I've had my control arm bushings on my 2002 C32 replaced several times under warranty and each time, my Vogtland springs were never questioned. Now, my pisshand MB dealer is saying that the springs are the cause and will no longer cover them. WTF?

Have any of you run into the same problem?

Well, I'll let you know....I had Vogtlands installed on my C32 for about 8 months now. What were the first symptoms you started noticing??

First, I am almost certain that the springs are not the cause.

As far as symtoms, I first notice it when under light braking and I go over a small bump...you hear a thud sound. If you've ever been in a NYC taxi, its what their suspension sounds like. Its annoying as hell.

Not a big surprise. There's small chance that those springs caused the problem (IMHO) because it's a known weak spot in our cars, and it's a fore-aft stress that kills them. But Audis had/have a similar problem and Audi of America started to crack down.

My next question would be whether I'd have the same issues with stock springs?

I had the exact same problem with my Brabus suspension. They claimed that my suspension caused the bushings/arms to fail which is total nonsense. I even showed them the TSB regarding the issue and they wouldn't budge. I went to another dealer and they fixed under warranty no questions asked and they knew about my suspension.

My suggestion is to hit up another dealer. Once the Service Manager makes a decision it seems almost impossible to get them to budge.. A different dealer will not have access to see that it was declined by another dealer.

Good luck dude..

Too late for you guys, but I would consider painting my aftermarket springs black. They'd never notice.

That was a major gripe of mine when I got these...they're PURPLE! I wish they were black

I just recently had a control arm bushing replaced when my car went in for something else. I was also worried that they were going to mention my springs, but nothing was said and it was covered under warranty. Btw, my car is a clk500 with H&R springs. Hope this doesn't become an issue for me either in the future.

I think in your case, it might be that you've had them replaced "several times". If it were once or twice, they might/did let you slide. You should just try another dealer and see what happens.

A different dealer will not have access to see that it was declined by another dealer.
While I'm sure this is true, wouldn't the previous work on the car come up on the computer? Especially if its warranty work.

Yes, they will have all the previous work in the computer. They don't usually have a detailed report on what was done though. I have seen the reports that both my dealers have and it is limited info.
