Car & Driver pics E63 over M5 and S6.
The latest edition compares them and it was pretty decisive. They really didn't like the M5 (overly intrusive traction control that can't be shut off, and the damned electronics).
The S6 was a little weak but the dynamic favorite. It was also $12,000 cheaper than the other two. Time to put the full Lambo power into the V10.
The E63 was quickest by far in a straight line, and they say that it also handles very well -- clearly a first for AMG! They also noted how well the AMG transmission works.
Seems like Mercedes/AMG is really on a hot streak, and with the new C63, it will likely continue.

Yea well the C63 should be really nice!!
I'm just wondering what the cost will be, I'm guessing between 60k -70k?
If thats the case those E63's are looking better all the time

The main thing C&D disliked about the manaul M5 was the fact the traction and stability control could not be turned off at all. This affected everything, including high rpm launches (couldn't do it), skidpad grip and lane change speeds.
They basically used the old 6 speed manual transmission from the E39 M5. That transmission can not handle the power output from the E60 M5 engine when launching at high rpm, so they don't want the traction control to be disabled at all to prevent transmissions from blowing up.
As such, the SMGIII M5 performs much better because you can disable the traction and stability control systems.
The facelifted E63 benefited from the same "Direct Control" upgrades that the C55 got over the C32. Hence, it is not surprising the car handles much better than the previous E55. However, another thing that the "63" series have which the C55 didn't get is the ability to completely disable the stability control systems when you press "ESP off". In the C55, pressing the "ESP off" button simply means raising the threshold significantly before the stability program reigns you back in if you have too much oversteering angle. Also, the shifts of the AMG tuned 7G-tronic in "M" mode seem to be faster than the previous AMG tuned 5 speed transmission.

"Agile and dynamic are the features characterizing the more rigid AMG sports chassis of the C 55 AMG. The car’s handling is made even more precise and sporty thanks to a number of features: new springs and shock absorbers and harder bearings for the wheel suspension that work together with a seven-percent more directly transferred steering system and a 14 millimetre wider front-axle track. AMG’s 18-inch light-alloy, double-spoke wheels, the powerful AMG braking system and the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP®) that is outfitted with a new type of traction function satisfy the highest demands for dynamic handling."
The new stiffer springs and shocks and harder wheel bearings probably can be put onto your C32 if you get the part numbers. 18" wheels are easy to replicate.
The quicker steering ratio and wider front track probably cannot be easily duplicated on the C32. The revised ESP program also cannot be easily duplicated in the C32.

The wider track is probably wheel offset. With 8-1/2" wheels up front, I've probably got an even wider track! Thanks.
