Angry REAL TALK MERCEDES BENZ DEALERS not giving LOANERS ANYMORE ? WTF IS WRONG WITH THAT ?

This is crazy. I bought my car from Mercedes Benz of North Haven, and I live in Manhattan and MB of Manhattan is telling me I cannot recieve a loaner vehicle unless I purchased the automobile there. I use to be able to get a loaner vehicle, but now they changed the rule. I checked several other MB dealers and they say the same thing. What type of BS is this ? I have an 05 C55 I purchased for a good price in CT but MB Manhattan expects for me to just wait 5 days until my car is finished. I dont want to drive back to CT just so I can get a loaner vehicle. On top of that they also charging $30 fee for fuel and cleaning that must be paid upon reciet of loaner at MB New Haven. This is just rediculous. I drive an expensive luxury automobile, and their is something wrong with it I cant get a loaner unless it was purchased there, and If I go back to where I purchased it from they are charging me a fee. This is just out right BS. I feel like getting rid of my car now. This is such a total inconvience. This type of mess helps dealers lose potential customers. The customer service has gone down on MB part. Why do they do this ? Has anyone else experienced this. This should end. What difference does it make whether or not you purchased the automobile there or not ? They still get paid. This is outright lame.

The same thing happened to me when I did the warranty service at Fletcher Jones Newport, but I bought the car at South Bay MB. They gave me a loaner but not MB, they told me cuz I didn't buy the car from them.

My brother had similar problem. He got used e320 but still on warranty. None of the dealers wanted to provide loaner. So, he wrote a letter to MBUSA with bunch of complants about the service. 2 days later he received a letter with apolgies and got served by Helms Bros in Queens which was of his choice.

True dat. Fletcher Jones is having the same problem. Poor service has led them to take drastic measures (that and losing so much business to Laguna Nigel) and are now offering loaners to everyone.....

A C55 owner wouldn't post a rant here. Logic says he'd be going off in the C-Class AMG section.

same thing for BMW and Audi here, before they give you loaner they have to check the see if the car purchased from them. and the $30 fee is only charged if you dont bring it back with the same amount of gas(just like a rental car)

its the dealers choice, I know with the dealer i go to, they are fine, with it. Also what happens say you purchase a car in Cali and move to FL what are they going to say no, even though you just moved there.. But i know at least at the dealership i go to, i have seen people come from an hour away just to get service done, even if they didnt buy the car at the dealership i go to, but they still get loaners

I have never experienced this with either of the dealers I use. I always get a Benz loaner and didn't buy my car from either..

Ok sorry its a true nightmare in your and others with same issues. I in the other hand I have had my C32 in for warrantty work 3 times and two different dealers out in the suburbs of Chicago and no issues getting loaners for warranty work well then again I am using extended warrantty for this service but it shouldn't matter and the work was done at dealers not where I bought car.

I left my car few times at MB dealer, never had problem getting a loaner.
Every single time I got brand new MB. If I didn't have time to p/u my car b4 they close, they always send Porters to bring mine and p/u theirs at no charge or fee whatsoever. All that during warranty and after.

I guess for once Windy city gets better treatment

this is how it always was in mb manhattan or mb sovereign.

b/c the "loaners" are the companies own FLEET. and they can even have jaguars or like audis as their FLEET if they want to.

the guy JOHNATHAN in the loaner dept in mbmanhattan told me that.

you would normally get a loaner in these conditions.

1. Customer @ Mb-Manhattan (loaner wherever u bought the car from)
2. Problem/Service covered under warranty.
3. Problem/Service not covered under warranty ($50 charge a day I think)

This is B.S.

What they told you is B.S.

Mercedes offers its customers a loaner for an inconvinience due to a manufacturer defect (which is covered under manufacturer warranty). My local dealership tried to do the same thing, but as soon as I called 1-800-Mercedes and complained, my service advisor immediately called and offered me a loaner.

All you have to do is call 1-800-Mercedes !!!!

Don't let the dealership get away with this.

its up to the dealer. in OC, i've always gotten c-class loaner from caliber. fletcher jones made me rent a car once. they have an enterprise rent-a-car office right in the service drive. last time, i just made sure to request a loaner car when i set my appointment and they said no problem, it just wont be a benz. basically, they just pay for your rental.

I am driving a loaner right now and I didn't buy my car from the dealership I use for service. They have never even asked where I bought the car.

My dealer here in the UK "gives" loaners, but they are Enterprise cars and some boggo C180 thing. Not that I'm complaining cos I'd be screwed without a car !
Problem is you have to pay £10 ($17) per day insurance unless you get your own insurance transferred. Not cheap when it goes in for a week !

MBSD is now part of UAG Autogroup, owned by Penske. It is up to the dealer.
