This is easy, all you need to do is go to www.carfax.com, type in your vin, get your wallet out and pay the 19.99.

Umm yeah...the idea is to NOT pay the 20 bucks. Was hoping someone has a subscription they wouldn't mine using for me.

I don't need a fast convertible. Just something fun for the summer. If I want to drive fast, which I seldom do, I'll just take the C32 out.

You have a C32....

And you are buying a Convert BMW for your liesure.....

But you are too cheap to pay 20 dollars for a carfax?

I drive a Neon and pay for my own carfaxs.

Maybe he drives a C32 and is buying a BMW because he is otherwise frugal with his money and chooses not to waste it when there is a good chance he could get the report for free.

There is a big difference between cheap and trying to get something for free.

I would call on you if you said you have never asked for anything for free.

Yep, it's just like how Jerry says. Years ago, when I bought and sold cars every couple of months, I subscribed to carfax and gave out free reports to others. There's nothing wrong with sharing with others. And anyways, I'm too poor, not too cheap to pay for the carfax myself.

Hey man - do a search for 'carfax' in the W203 C Class forum. There was a guy there offering his account about 2 weeks ago for anyone to use it.

Frugal is a nice way of saying cheap. If you are trying to justify it because you have done it fine. But I don't agree.

Same thing like, Your just crazy when poor, but when rich your eccentric.

What next asking for a free cheeseburger at McDonald's? Because you are "frugal" and have the chance to get the burger for free?

I hope you don't have the same philosiphy on downloading pirated music?

You don't get the abililty to buy a C32 and BMW by panhandling.

Sure I have gotten free items. But I never panhandle.

Maybe I missed something, but the last time I checked, Frugal and Cheap had different definitions. Also, at what point did anyone panhandle, or beg for anything? Again, asking for something and begging for it are two different things. In your eyes, approaching your boss and asking for the day off would be considered panhandling. I have never begged for anything, but I’ll take whatever I can get for free anytime. Does that make me cheap? What about the fact that I own a very profitable IT company and I work full time but I live in a townhouse in the far west suburbs when I could live downtown in a condo that costs 5 times as much. Again, am I cheap?

Having someone use their paid subscription to obtain a report for a friend and pirating software is again completely different. Let me explain why it is different….Say I purchased a song from iTunes. I then proceeded to download the song and burn it to a CD. I then give this CD to a friend for him/her to do with what they like. Do you think that is illegal? If you do, you are a fool. Carfax has a nice terms of use page that full of info if you care to read it. If I paid Carfax for information that they have and I choose to give that info to another person, it would be perfectly legal. If it was illegal, you would not see links all over the web for Carfax reports.

SilverMPower,

I just ran it you you (2001 BMW 325CI). Looks like a clean California car. No issues reported on Carfax. If you provide me your e-mail I will send you the report.

Good luck on the purchase. And remember, Carfax is not tremendously reliable. If your serious about this car, have a thorough PPI done, and have the body checked by a specialist.

Thanks, 2Quik4U. I ended up buying the car over the weekend. It's a blast so far. And as for Uberidiot... what's he doing in our AMG forum anyways? I won't mind him. He's just a troll.

If it is so cookie cutter as you say, how come forums are banning asking for free carfax reports?

I deal with you "free" people all the time in my rental business. Just because it took you 10 minutes longer do to something with the tool, you want the rental for free. Because there is that chance I might give. Well I don't.

I am sorry you guys are more than men of means. And paying 20 bucks for a carfax would have little bearing on whether you are able to pay for your bills or not.

So people that pay for carfax are foolish with their money, and people that are looking for a free lunch are smart. What ever makes you sleep at night.

Congrats on the IT business, you may not live downtown because you may not like it. Comparing buying homes to not wanting to spend 20 dollars are completely two different things.

There is a fine line between cheap and frugal.

Answer me this, do you shop at Aldi's?

Uberidiot, how quaint and original.

Yes, I am a troll. I own a crossfire which has nothing to do with MercedesBenz. And I am considering purchasing a C32 in afew months. I also defended AMG-jerry and the C32 against thericker and his almighty C6. In him calling the C32 slow for a lack of words. I praise the E55 and everything AMG.

If those are characteristics of a troll you hit it on the head, I am a troll.

I asked what you are doing in our AMG forum, which has nothing to do with your Crossfire and it's Daimler Chrysler roots. Also, the C32 IS slow. I hate it. Want to take it off my hands???
