Extra loud blower whine?

Extra loud blower whine?
It has been very cold outside the last few days. Today I was driving on the highway (-4deg outside) and noticed that my blower's whine was VERY loud when I went full throttle. Every time I punched it I could hear it over the radio. It almost sounded like a Cobra. I have never been able to hear the blower even when I try to. Any ideas why? I wouldn't think it would have to work much harder to compress the extra dense air

I'm experiencing the same thing. It's loud but car runs like never before.
Must be cold air. It's been like that since we hit single digits temp.
It stops when your engine temp. is around 90 deg., at least mine does.

Mine kept doing it even after driving for 2 hours, and the engine coolant temp was 85.

It took about 3 hrs b4 i reached 90 deg. in this weather. And i'm talking city driving almost 100 miles. only 30 on hwy. The other thing I noticed: car is riding like there is no shoks installed, really hard, rough ride, stiff as a rock. Kind of nice on hard turns - no body roll.

but I do not drive the Merc today, my faithful 94 Vision TSi does the job. When is that cold, I would not push either car too hard - I can hear all system struggling in one way or another.
I do not believe I have heard the blower being louder, but the engine is quite louder while the car is cold.

mine does the same thing til the engine warms up, it is normal...
although i am looking forward to rebuilding the heads now when we can get a hold of a set of cams...i have a lifter tapping when the car is cold
