Oil changes, it's been discussed before, but...
Waste? Possibly. Peace of mind? Yes.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't really know if it matters or not, however, it can't hurt.
DIY change at 3500 and now am at 8000. Oilchange was easy except for refill, no dipstick issue so had to use the CPU. Therefore took several readings pre change to avg. and go back to when filling.
I drained from the bottom, and got everything out, (there is a debate about this issue too) Top or bottom. I am sure either is fine.
The 3500mi filter was filled with lots of visible yellow material. The oil itself looked great.
Service indicator on car said 2300 miles to go today, making that 10300. So the CPU doesn't sense the oil change all by itself.
Am I glad I changed it before 10k? absolutely,
Should I change it again before Sched A? wouldn't hurt. I would do it myself though. Only downside, might be a waste of $50 to me.
BTW my sister has a 2000 CLK320. The oil on her car is changed regularly every 5000 miles. her car now has 24k miles on the odo. The problem is that the information that shows when you should go to the dealer is still at Serv A. Everytime we change the oil, the meter roll back a little, and it never seems tobe going to zero (time for schedule maintainance). Does anyone have simular problems on their other MB?
