march motortrend has c63 @ 481 hp

just got my mag. c63, detuned to 481hp will make debut at franfurt autoshow. a mildly disguised photo of a non amg car was shown.

photo and snippet on e92 m3- 410hp, may get dsg. on sale 10/07 in germany and here soon after.

pix of new g35 coupe, more swoopy, pretty nice. 306 hp. (i thought the 3.5 vq was being punched out to 3.8??)

the evo x was driven in this issue as well.

worth buying for the content on the hot new rides.

Probably has 500 hp. You know Mercedes, they'll advertise lower to make clients purchase Es and SLs etc.

Good point. Just like what happened with E55.

481 in europe and probably 475 in the US, just like the CLK.

With the new CTS-V coming up, (z06 motor) and new additions from Lexus... it probably enough.

M3 its on a different class.. since it does not have 4 doors. The RS4 is a direct competitor, but its more a track car than a luxury sports sedan.

However... it definately will have tough competition.

There'll be an M3 sedan with the 400hp V8

I'd love to see the comparison of C63, S4 sedan, and M3 sedan in Nurburgring.

Can I do an engine transplant?

God, if MB doesn't mess around with tuning/ECU/etc the C63 is going to be a BEAST.

With that type of power I'm guessing 0-60 in 3.6 to 3.8 and 1/4 in 11.6 to11.8! I can't wait to buy one. I bet it will be a high demand one unlike the C55.

that would not be a wise move if they want to sell E's and CLS.

remember.. the car is going to grow and add pounds.

The 7sp transmission is not as aggressive as we thought.

If you really want to know how fast it would be.... search for CLK63 and deduct a few tenths of the 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4.

There are already a few test of the CLk63 and it performed okay, but still a few ticks away from the E and CLS63

The car is probably going to be a high 12's with traps of 112+.

I just hope weight stays under 3700lbs, which I doubt.

Okay well lets see here C&D list the CLK63 cab at 0-60 in 4.2, 0-100 in 9.5 and 1/4 in 12.5 at 116mph and the curb weight on the cab mind you is 4113lbs. The curb weight on the old C55 is 3588lbs and the new C W204 from what I've heard is not heavier then W203, but lets say its a 100 pounds heavier actually lets just say its 3700lbs that's still a 400+ difference and with that much of a weight reduction you'll see a big performance gain. So 0-60 might be 3.9 and 1/4 12 flat maybe 11.9 that doesn't mean MB is going to list that stuff as its official time.

Anyway so the only reason people buy the E and CLS is because its faster then the C and not because its bigger, more expensive, more of a status symbol and has more available options and standard features for it. I guess your right that couldn't be it. The only reason people buy the C is because they can't afford the E and CLS.

This is going to start a war with people from other classes, because they would say I am full of it, but the reason I bought my C55 is because I love the styling and the interior (more sportier looking) than the E55 or CLS55 class. Don’t get me wrong I love the exterior of the other two but I just can’t see myself looking at that IP every day. Originally I was looking to purchase an E55, test drove one loved it but HATED the IP (instrument panel) JUST LOOKED TO PLAIN FOR A $115,000 car. I even got offered a hell of a deal on one MB Mississauga had in stock loaded with nav, two tone leather (red & blk), automatic trunk closing, keyless go and some others that I can't remember, they were willing to let the car go for base price $115,000 no charge for the options almost $6g's in options. Then I saw the C55 and ask my sales guy is that a C32 and he said no its a C55, I did not know about the C' Class having a 55 edition so I went over to have a look and fell in love with the interior but wanted the digital climate control, he said that the E55 was the better car with more power, so I took the C55 out for a spin and of course it did not have the power the E55 had but quite fast never the less. Long story shore after a week of SERIOUS data searching back and fort with four of my car buddies (Automotive Engineers & Technicians) to the dealer I decided to get the C55 and wanted to order the digital climate control but found out that it was not offered on North American cars so I spoke to one of the MB techs and he said it can be done if I wanted to (did not do it yet). So like you said some people buy because of STATUS, E > C but I bought because of what I like and not the MONEY.

Hey DMC can you get more info about swapping in the digital AC control???? It appears that the 05 clk55 has it and so is that just plug and play??? I am told that there is an issue where there are like 3-4 version of the unit and that some will not work on the c55, and the fact that they will not accept a return makes it an issue!! I WANT the digital climate control BAD!! Can you ask your tech which part number works PLEASE so I can order it and install it myself? (I have already had it out when I put in the ipod kit myself). Thanks! Sean

Even if they don't, I'm sure a slight ECU tune will get them there. How exactly are they detuning it? Identical engines to the E63, S65 etc. no?

(Sure you meant S63...)

Probably different exhaust, more restrictive intake, and/or tuning.

I do realize that C&D clock a very impressive time for the CLK63 whick equals the E63 and CLS63 and even a M5.

but you may want to read other times before making a general assumption.

please see below:

http://www.pbs.org/mpt/motorweek/search.shtml

(scroll down to the CLK section)

so let's not put a new W204 in the 11's yet.

The million dollar questions is what the pricing point will be for this beast......I like what I'm hearing but will it be in some of our price range?

Don't start deaming

I am working with DC Switzerland and believe me, the C63 will not be faster than the E63. That's policy. But it will look very sporty like a real muscle car. The AMG Package on the new W204 C-class is a good hint how sporty it will be.

Tim

not to stray too far off topic, but the new CTS restyle is gorgeous. they tweaked that edgy "art & science" styling language in a really pleasant way with the coming 2008 that's shown on the cadillac web site. should be ridiculously nice in V series trim.
