Need new brakes Porterfield pads and new rotor's
I am looking to do Brake pads and rotors again after 15k miles for the front. From what I have read the Porterfield pads sound great. Do they work well with stock oem rotors. Is anyone using these. I am worried about the bedding process being done correctly so I don't have squell or vibration. Also will stainless steel brake lines really feel better while braking. I have an 03 c32. I am in Newport Beach, and wondering who can do a good job putting these on. Also does the type of brake fluid make a big difference.
Last but least. Green air filters or K&N

I have heard good things about Porterfield. I'm using EBC Red Stuff Ceramics and they are great. Replacing pads and rotors is not complex, and any good shop should be able to handle it for you. I did it myself and I am not a mechanic.

I installed Porterfield pads up front two months ago. I just changed the pads using stock rotors. They have been just great no squell or vibrations. In addition no brake dust. Street use has been great, better than the stock pads I had. I haven't tracked the car (we are going thru winter), but aggressive street use it has been very good. As far as installation in was very easy. It took me less than ten minutes per side. As I said I didn't change to rotors, but it didn't look very difficult to do as well. Hope it helped. I have Porterfield pads for the rear as well, but don't need to change them for another couple of months.

I love the Porterfields. I've had them on my 2004.5 since 2005 summer and I haven't had any problems with them. Although, I must say that now that it's getting close to time for replacement, they are starting to squeak very slightly.

brakes.
Yeah I had the front rotors replaced and the pads at Fletcher Jones. Paid $630 like a dummy. Drive extremly hard, can't help it its a fun car. So only after 12k, they definatly need replaced. I am also getting steering wheel shake or shimmy when braking from 50 or 60 somewhat hard. It just started a few days ago after the front left brake started squeeling. Brake feel is soft now too.

Brakes
I was interloping on this forum since I hit the search "new posts" and found this topic, I posted a whole "how-to" on my brakes for my C43 that you may, or may not find helpful. I did EBC reds and purchased OEM AMG rotors that have been cryo (frozen) treated -----> LINK

I have had the steering wheel shimmy that you are talking about before. Just do some really hard stops from like 80 mph (safely) and it will clean them up.

I would also be interested to hear about other pads etc. As coming from Porsche land, I am only familiar with using all of the pagid pads. Do they make them for the c55? I wouldn't use anything else. In regards to the quick use. I have had my car and put on oh... about 7k miles on it and the car was CPO'd when I got it meaning it was supposed to have 80-90% of the brake pads left. Well I have the wear sensor bugging me as of a week ago. Are the pads super soft? Maybe they were BS'ing about the % and I can get a free set of pads all around. The rears look fine and meaty btw.

Here's a diagram for rotor replacement.
PS: I also have (but have not yet used) a set of Akebono Euro Ceramics. Akebono has a very solid reputation in Japanese car circles, and I'm guessing they're pretty good.
The EBC Red Stuff Ceramics have surprised the heck out of me because they are rated for street and light track/autocross use, but they have performed extremely well on multiple track days.
