Supercharger engaging at 3000 rpm
Hey can someone answer if this is true or not:
The supercharger engages only as required; when it is not being driven, the intake air flows through its rotors (ie no external bypass is fitted). Supercharger operation is dictated by the Bosch ME 2.8.1 engine management system on the basis of engine speed and load. However, the supercharger, which is driven from the engine's serpentine belt, will not engage at engine speeds over 3000 rpm - if this occurred, the belt stresses would be too high. If required, the engine can develop 400Nm from 2300 rpm to 6100 rpm.
This was taken from a C32 review. I have noticed this on my C32, mainly on the interstate at speeds over 80 mph.
If it is true, how do you come out of a corner on the track and expect the blower to kick in? The car would feel flat, ie no boost. Let me know guys from anyone that has tracked one, as I am getting ready to go to Beaverun.
Thanks in advance!!

Answer in this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/153155-supercharger-always-active.html
The supercharger is ALWAYS engaged at engine speeds higher than 2900 rpm.

Of course, there are some exceptions. According to Vadim@MBLN, the s/c clutch momentarily disengages during upshifts to help protect the transmission and reduce peak driveline loads. Also, the DME will shut down the supercharger entirely if the IAT readings are too high. 2002 models will shut down their s/c at 255F. The '03 and '04 go into "safe" mode at 199F. (Thanks CynCarvin32) This is to help reduce the likelihood of catastrophic engine failure from detonation. It will only reengage when IAT has dropped below 155F.
If you're experiencing a loss of horsepwer at 80 MPH, it could very well be an intercooler pump failure. Search the forums, and you'll discover a lot of good info about getting all of the ~349 horsepower you paid for.
Good luck at Beaverun. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys!!!!
I will make an appointment at my MB dealer, Prior to my Beaverun date. I have read ALOT about our lovely ICP and I guess I will get my first one under warrenty
. It really is annoying when you floor it, and it winds up like a junk V-6.
I will keep you posted, and thanks again for clarifing the clutch engagment question.
See yeah
