Whats the biggest tire size i can go for c55?

What is the biggest tire size i can go on a stock c55? the back tires are 245, i assumed they would be bigger for the power it has. can i go bigger size on the stock rim? basically, i just wanted to know 2 things:

1. whats the biggest size i can go?
2. what negatives and postive things will that do to the car if i go that big?

thanks.

The widest tire size you can use safely is 235 mm up front and 265 mm out back. Now, you can go bigger, but you are going to rub in all likelihood. Rubbing is bad. I have seen rubbing shred tires. The largest safe wheel diameter is 19", although I have heard of very cautious people rolling their fenders for 19's. I wouldn't go wider than 9" on any wheel, but some people go to 9.5". Personally, I don't think it is worth the risk.

My dream setup for a car like this, doesn't match the cars capability, but for this car:

235/40/zr19 on 19 x 8 wheels up front with 265/40/zr19 on 19 x 9 wheels out back.

I hope this helps you.

wow, i can go 265's in the back on my stock 18" wheel? Or did you mean if you have a 19" rim you can go 265? I would love to be abel to go 265 on my rim, it would look so aggressive and would hel with launch and handling

The diameter of the wheel has nothing to do with what width tire it can take. A 9.5 inch wide wheel works with a 265 but a 9 works best with a 255. You might rub with a 9.5 wheel and a 265 tire but this comes down to how your car was built and the nature of the tire. My car had an ever so slight rubbing issue that I fixed with no problem (totally fixed.... I drove the car so hard it was a hazard if it the tire ever contacted any surface but the road). I have seen C32's have 265's and 9.5 inch wheels that never rubbed and I have seen C32's with 255's that rubbed. The offset of the wheel and the clearance in the wheel well are more important than the tire size.

265 and less is doable but not on a stock wheel. You should not go past 255 on a stock 8.5 inch wide wheel. If you go to 265 however you will need to put a 235 in the front because the difference in rolling circumference will throw the ESP/ASR/ABS system into a state of total confusion.

For your car with stock wheels the biggest possible is 225/255
For your car with new 18-inch wheels is 235/265 (if u use a 8.5/9.5 wheel combo)
For your car with 18-inch wheels with 8/9 widths 225/255 is still the best bet.

A big tire on a narrow wheel is pointless since the tire will not be firmly pressed to the ground. The car will actually have less grip and suffer from tire roll during hard cornering.

C32 T 2003. Mods? MANY!! :)
Hi guys,

Just want to give what I can in this thread, even if it's a C32 I have, it should not be a big differens!

I have the following, in front 19X8, 235/35 and in the back 9X19, 265/30, and I have Eagle F1. Yes, it do rub a bit in the back but I'm having that fixed when I get back home in April, so no big thing.

Regards from Lebanon.

You have to consider offset as well. I assume you'd be matching the stock offset numbers. PS, I have 245s in front (245/40/17s on OEM AMG rear wheels) and there is no rubbing.

you should look at the amg performance salon which actually recommends a 8.5/9.5 19 setup offset is the issue. They list their offset there as well.
