Lighter rotor options?

I see Evosport makes a rotor upgrade for all 55s but us.

What have you guys seen or used that can lower our weight?

The C55 and C32 use the same rotor. I've not seen any aftermarket rotor that is lighter than OEM. And they are HEAVY.

You can use the 2 piece floating rotor from the 05-06 clk55/slk55. It the same size, lighter by 4 lbs and a bit thicker and about 6 times more expensive.

and I can spend a few grand to get the entire SLK set up too. But I would just like to save a few lbs on the four corners. I can save about 8lbs/ea with just rims (BBS vs. stock), so I am looking for the next step...if it exists...that is reasonable!

Probably SOL unless you work with one of the custom rotor manufacturers. If it helps to buy in volume, you might get a few customers here.

There is one aftermarket source (see below) but it does not identify the weight. http://www.r1concepts.com/Items/bo%2...premium%20001?

thanks...I sent them an email to inquire into weight and group buy pricing. Anyone know the OEM weight of our rotors?

I am looking for 5lbs or more loss...that way we can drop 13+ lbs per corner on our cars from OEM w/ rims too. That should be noticable in acceleration, cornering and stopping.

You could focus on the fronts only, which are much larger rotors. It would have to be 5 lbs or more to make me buy. I just put a set of new Zimmermans on last Fall.

Any news on this subject!?

Where to find floating rotors for the c32/c55 or just lighter rotors?

The stock rotors are rubish, I have mines for 20000km and they are warped, and many of my friends with the same brake sytem, including C30CDI AMG have the same problem...

We are all searching for some alternative to the stock rotors, and only if we just find something better for a considerable cost we all could buy it right!?

Any US company to contact?

Thanks

I was looking on brembo website http://www.brembo.com/ENG/HighPerfor...ismoCatalogue/

And could not figure out if any 335mm (6kg) or 332mm (6,7kg) gran turismo rotors will fit with my c32 AMG callipers (345mm stock rotors) or are they just for the brembo kit...

By the way, any one knows the weight of the stock rotors!?

Thanks

Has ANYONE heard from Code3 recently?

I have tried calling and e-mails with no reply in the last week. I hope everyting is OKAY for Brandon, as I REALLY liked his HE that I installed over the weekend.

See yeah

Hey Fifth:

Where did you get them from please?

I have been looking new rotors for the C32 for awhile now, and I have problems even finding the STOCK rotors. Tire rack does not even carry them

See yeah and thanks

Sometimes the online sources do not adequately cross-reference parts. If you do not see C32 rotors, look for C55 rotors. They are the same. In fact, I think some newer AMGs sold in the US also use the same rotors.

Wait for Code3

Brandon from Code3 stopped by my shop today and showed off the 2 piece prototype. He's going to mount them, take measurements, and hit a track event to see how they do. Hopefully he'll joint us at Laguna Seca next month for testing. We'll have to wait patiently until they are released.

Hey MRAMG1,

Not sure what might've happened when you looked, but I thought your reply was curious, since I'd bought F&R rotors from them not that long ago. Anyway, I was able to sort by model and pretty quickly get this link:

http://www.performanceproducts4benz....=82&pid=101142

They sell fronts for $117.80, and rears for $57.45. So unless you put the order through and got an "out of stock" reply, you should be able to get them (I didn't need them, so I didn't try to complete the order, but they did enter my "cart" when I tried that).

Are these factory MB Parts or OEM?

I also finded that some rotor manufacturers say "OEM brembo brakes compatible"...
