i am home, it was a blast being up there and getting to wrench on Jerry's car! it was also a lot of fun to just hang out and meet some other people from the forum...

Jerry, thanks for letting me crash at your place, it was a fun weekend and i am definitely glad i came...we will have to do it again, but you are coming to houston this time...

to the rest of you guys that i met, it was great meeting you and i will look forward to seeing you again...

the car is running great and i can't wait to see what kind of numbers that it puts down on the dyno...

Thanks

we drained the pan and changed the filter...we were only able to get out 3 quarts...but once you change the filter, it is easy to drain and then refill that amount...just make sure you measure what you are taking out so that you know how much to put back in...then, make sure you

you need the pan gasket, filter, tranny fluid and tranny dip stick from the dealer...the rest can be done in your driveway...

i did the same method & managed to get out 4.25ish quarts
out. damn diptstick was more than the oil pan gasket and
filter, $80ish!

What's that catch can for? Where is it hooked up to? Good photo documentary!

Edit" Nevermind what it is for, I just read what it is for. Do you have a shot of it hooked up to the valve covers?

I'll take one for you tonight.

It is an awesome mod, and it really cuts down on the oil build up.

This is the hardest question to answer.

As most of you have figured out from the pictures, the "super secret" mod is a larger 3 piece dampened crank pulley. It is good for 20Lbs of boost. After Erick, Perry, and I installed it, the car now has its power back. It has been a few days and the idle is still perfect! Erick can confirm, the car feels way different. When he first drove the car, he noticed right away that the power wasn't there. After all the work was done, Wifey sent Erick and I to get more propane for the grill...and of course we took the AMG for the quick 3 minute drive to the store. We hung a right at the first stop sign down the road from my house and Erick something like "Dude, this is a different car". He is right!

Now the bad news...

I lost tons of boost porting my heads. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue because you could always up the boost. Well, this isn't the case with our car. The crank pulley that I have installed is the largest pulley that you can safely run. I'm willing to bet that the WHP on the car is where it was before and there is nothing that I can think of that will increase it. The S/C is <2000 RPM away from red line. Spin it faster and efficiency becomes an issue.

The only positive note, and Erick can confirm, is that the TRQ curve is perfect.

So, depending on the numbers that Erick puts down once he gets his larger pulley installed will determin if I buy new heads or not. I really have no other options if I want to make some serious power....I wish the E55 S/C would fit!

If you have a craving for serious power, contact Erick about this pulley. It is a 3 piece internal dampened pulley that weighs 4 ozs more than the stock pulley, and is good for 20 PSI. This is the most well designed pulley I have ever seen....and no, Erick nor I designed it. He will provide Dyno numbers once he installs it. Due to my heads, I won't be a good candidate for WHP figures.

Here are pics... http://www.renntechc32.com/largerpulley/

Ideas? Thoughts?

It comes with a smaller water pump pulley. I went from the Renntech pulley to the Leading Edge Motorsports pulley just by swapping the water pump pulley.

You will be able to do the same.

Edit - The Renntech kit uses another smaller pulley like the Evosport kit.

Jerry opening your exhaust will open up your compression in the
combustion chamber will cause you to loose boost, porting and
honing the head will just delay the amount of time filling the
intake manifold making you think you're loosing boost, but
infact it's just really a delay if filling up the intake manifold
with kompressed air from the supercharger. Then again, this
is what I've gathered from Vortech / Powerdyned superchargers.
So don't crucify me if I'm wrong

Have you had a chance to datalog the intake manifold pressure
before and after the pulleys w/the honed/ported heads?

Yes, Erick and I did a quick run to the store with the data logger running. According to my software, I am now at 17.3 PSI. Before the install, I was at 14.4 PSI. This explains why my car has been putting out stock numbers.

Of course, this is with a data logger that only samples every 5 seconds, so the max numbers for before and after could be off. If the DL took a sample at 30 PSI, it wouldn't sample again for another 5 seconds....which means that I have shifted gears and lowered the boost. So, the numbers above were the max that I could capture....I need a boost gauge.

Is that even possible? With my ASP pulley I'm running 18.1psi.

I really need to get my boost gauge installed ASAP

That pulley looks way better than the ASP pulley. I was a little mad when I saw the welds on the ASP pulley. Anybody know the specs on the ASP pulley vs Evosport vs Leading Edge. I thought the ASP pulley was slightly larger than the Evosport pulley.

Problem with a larger pulley is cooling. ACT will rise with higher boost, so cooling upgrades are necessary.

ASP, Evosport and Renntech are all the same size... 178mm

Leading Edge is 185mm...you should see the difference first hand, the Leading Edge Pulley is huge compared to the others...

i agree, cooling upgrades are necessary to see the full gain from this setup...

if anyone is interested in some cooling upgrades, shoot me a PM...

I remember there was talk of running a 192mm pulley. Not sure how much boost that translates into.

What size Pulley was Vadim running when he started to see the SC clutch slip?

I am very interested in this pulley. I have upgraded my cooling with a much larger secondary heat exchanger adding ~1 gallon of coolant to the system. Additionally I have added a CM90 pump. That pump is a very tight fit on the SLK32.

I am currently running the ASP pulley's and was considering going back to ASP to build me a larger Crank pulley to up the boost.

This looks like a better option. Do we have any pricing?

Very interested in the before and after numbers on Erics install.
