Help me with my clunk please.

I have this clunk, originally reported here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ighlight=clunk

and then also followed up here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/187803-clunking-bumping-front-end.html

At the end of that last thread someone suggests lower control arm bushing.

Cool - but first assume that I know nothing (for the most part you would be right ).

So, on the pic below, what part of this should I be checking for the clunk and how can I check it? I took a socket wrench to all of the bolts I could see and tried just a little pressure to try and tighten them and see if they were loose and of course nothing budged. But if the clunking is happening under the weight of the car, would I really be able to move it with my hand? Anyways, does anyone have some suggestions on how I can diagnose this myself with the car up and as shown, and what part of all of this is the lower control arm bushings and how can I find out if they are bad? Many thanks for any guidance on this issue.

the control arm to check is the one that is in the middle of the picture that is curved and looks like it is pointing straight up in the picture...

the end that needs to be checked(the rubber bushing part of course) is the end that you cannot see in the picture...

Cool thanks - will it feel loose, or be loose if I go at it with a wrench or can I visually inspect it for something to look for? Thanks!

it won't be loose, but you will be able to visually see the bushing cracked or torn either partially or completely at the thinnest part of the bushing...
