Mercedes Dealership 'mis diagnoses' a problem with moon roof
Wonder how many times this has happened to me. Maybe my car is actually reliable and the dealership just tells me it's broken.
They tried to charge me $1200+ to replace what they said was faulty/worn seat rails under my drivers seat. They claimed the rails had worn down which is why my seat control unit kept failing/shorting out. They claimed this was not covered under my warranty.
Took my car to another dealer and they said it was a shorted out wire under my seat, replaced the wiring harness under the seat under warranty.. Fixed the problem free of charge.. never had a problem since.
This stuff makes me sick.. mother f....ers
Me: My car has a weird noise coming out of the SC, I need to have it check.
A few hours later... the phone rings.
SA: I got bad news my man, you need a SC swap asap or you can blow your engine.
Me: Are you serious?
SA: I'm dead serious... you don't want to be driving like this my man.
Me: But... how much are we talking about here? I just ran out of warranty.
SA: Well, after the customer appreciation discount and taking off the diagnosis charges... everything comes down to hmmm, $3,258...
Me: But my car is only worth $20K now...
SA: AMGs are very exclusive and very rare cars my man... besides, all these ultra high performance special made parts are shipped directly from a little town in Germany. Availability is limited plus you need our complete certified amg specialists to do the job.
Me: Mmm I see, well... let me get back to you.
A few hours later you are thinking about what to do, beating yourself about buying a used AMG... all frustrated with the car... and just out of curiousity you decide to google "C32 supercharger noise problems".
20 minutes later... you find a $20 fix.
Not Cool!... "my man"
Gotta like the 'Uh, I'll have to talk to the service tech' B.S.. I'd kick the lying sack of trash in the nutz
if that were my service guy. I wonder how much commission HE was going to make on the job??Part of it is the assumption I strongly believe on their part about how little the stereotypical MB customer knows about fricking cars and they think every one of us has a money tree growing in our back.............

these SAs dont know anything. they apparently do not know whats going on, I had a similar situation, where they tell me that I need to replace ALL brakes and rotars, because they are in really bad condition. (I posted this up on the W163 forums before).
so my SA goes,
SA: YOU NEED TO REPLACE ALL BRAKES AND ROTARS, they are in really bad condition, you wont be able to stop.
ME: FRANK, YOU GUYS TOOK IT OUT FOR A ROAD TEST? and the technicians checked the brakes?
SA: yeap, we took it out for a road test, the technicians took off the wheels and inspected everything.
ME: FRANK, I want you to go upstairs, check my brakes and rotars, they were replaced yesterday, brand new.
SA: oh, I'm sure its a mistake, I'll get them checked for you.
ME: ok...just make sure nothing else is "broken"

Crazy ish! Thank God I'm still under warranty. As soon as it's off warranty, Thank God for the abundant amount of info we have on here.
I HATE STEALERSHIPS!!!!!! THEY NEVER, AND I MEAN NEVER, HAVE THE CUSTOMER'S BEST INTEREST IN MIND...
even when under warranty, they just replace whatever they can so that they can get reimbursed from the factory...
