Hi guys. I am new here and picked up a new C55 AMG recently. My local dealer installed the MB ipod unit and I have a question for you. When the car is off with the key removed, the ipod seems to remain on and charging - presumably from the car's battery. The MB logo is on my ipod's screen and stays on. Is this normal? Thanks for your help. The car is a blast!

I have a 2004 C32 w/ COMAND - will the MB dealer kit work with mine, or is there an effective ipod integration setup for my car? Every FM Modulator I've tried (Monster, DLO, etc.) sounds like junk.

As an "fyi," I'm not interested in spending a zillion $$$ on my car's stereo. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks.

I'm sorry - I'm not sure I follow what you're talking about w/ the DICE kit. Also, I forgot to mention that I have the glovebox-mounted CD changer - doesn't this use the AUX input? Would I have to give that up in order to have a good ipod solution?

Thanks for the help,

Thanks for the help,
DICE kit will give CD sound quality, but you will have to lose the factory CD changer. AUX input does not sound as good nor it charges the iPod, but you keep the stock CD changer.

this is my setup. i just use aux input

Keep in mind that if you are opening the drivers door (passenger's too?) to check on the iPod - you are activating the MOST ring and the iPod is then turning on. It should turn off, as stated above. Leave the glove box door open, have the iPod where you can see it through the window and then check to see if it turns off.

Can you clarify please. I want to do this mod but don't understand? Who opens their driver door to see if there Ipod is working? Or who controls their Ipod from outside the car?

I should have quoted the original post when I posted, sorry for the confusion. I was explaining why the iPod appears to be on and not turn off. When you unlock the car, open either front door (i'm pretty sure the passenger door applies) the most ring is activated and it turns on the iPod. So the impression is that it never turns off. My recommendation to check if it is turning off, is to leave the glove box open and rest the ipod on it so that you can see it from the window. Then you can check it to see if it is turning off, without activating the most ring.

Oooooh. That makes total sense.

I can now confirm that indeed, the ipod unit does goes off once the car is locked...it stays on, however if the car is unlocked...(which I don't normally do when its parked at home in the garage.)

Thanks for your help...
