Talking Boost gauge/custom pod

One more different idea for you all.....I had to install a boost gauge do to recent modifications ! So yeah I had to fab that too!!! I used the Auto meter ultra light carbon fiber gauge. Took a normal common universal single pod and customized it to fit the A-piller. Incorporated the remote signal and mute button for the radar detector. Feel free to ask questions or give suggestions.

Well there just is not an off the shelf Boost gauge system to it is simple enough to just buy an extra A-Piller molding and make one up. In person it looks clean and fits well and not in the way. Also well now I can monitor my boost so things don't get out of hand.

All of them!
It's very rice, err,, I mean nice. I not into that look, but you could do worse by adding a whole row of them up your a-pillar. But if you like it, than enjoy.

Why do you need to monitor boost?

+1...not sure how why your incorporating the Honda mods on a Mercedes but honestly its not cool at all. There are a bunch of cars on this board that have more power but dont need a booster gauge, what have you done to your car to need such a thing?

Anyone have a pic of 1fastc32's boost gauge... his is nice.

I dont see the need for a gauge, but then again, it would be nice just to make sure you are making full boost all the time (Incase your butt ever falls asleep).

I personally think the gauge cluster is pretty buisy, but then again you cant mess with functionality.

My man, what crossed your mind to do such a thing?

Since we're on the topic on gauges:

Can anyone here hide one in the ash tray? And not a gauge but one of those small LCD computer looking things. I forget what those things are called. It's like an all in one deal that measures all that.

Why would you not want to know your PSI especially with ECU and pulley mods and common IC pump issues. I am not gentle with my car at all I love to go fast and enjoy the fun of mods. With that you just cant afford not to know what is going on under the hood. As for the pod it is simple to take off and toss on a new pillar molding this is one reason for its location. The second reason is that is is the most logical place to have it so you can keep your eyes on the road vs in the ashtray or something like that. Give some more ideas I love challenges and constructive criticism.

Try putting it in the ash tray and make it as original as possible.

Like I mentioned before you cant look in the ash tray and at the road at the same time. Also as mentioned before the a-piller trim just pops off and toss on a new one if you need to it is simple and the best place for visibility. I feel strongly in making a car yours no need to keep it OEM if it is not fitting or practical to your needs. Be original after all it is your car!!!!

With our fixed boost blower, there is no need to monitor boost on a regular basis. You're not going to overboost. It may be nice to see it to diagnose a very strange problem, but that's about it.

Well with that mentality why have any gauges at all as all of the systems have limits preset etc.... Mainly my interest is to watch for consistency it can tell you valuable information about the condition and performance of the supercharger and I/C pump ( I have had two I/C's fail to date) . It can also indicate a vacuum leak, another useful feature. Too bad it won't tell you where the leak is! And, just in case your passengers weren't sure where all that power and noise was coming from, the boost gauge will settle the matter permanently. O' and yeah I have six pipes why is there such cynicism with being different and doing something that the any car with a supercharger should have, or a custom exhaust system? I have been drag racing for over 10 years now and man I can tell you that you will grow to depend on your gauges for trouble shooting as well as indicators.

If i wasn't interested, i wouldn't have looked up this thread. furthermore, i wouldn't have posted. a note to you haters: if you don't like it, just leave. No one asked you to be on this thread.

As far as the mod, it's decent. I agree that it could look a little clearner simply by using a grey pod instead of black. The red button stands out a bit much, but i like the overall idea. i support ya.

WHAT it is riveted on there, And did you custom wrap it in tin foil and then polish it off with a sticker???? A+ for IDEA F for execution that does not belong in a benz.

Thanks to AMGrasoul here is how it is supposed to look, probably would have taken you 10 hours, including dry time, the fiberglass how too off Google, the trip to home depot, and the paint dry time.

Everyone has opinions but I don't think it looks all that bad at all...this forum gains thru ideas we each implement in our cars even if most don't like them...what matters is as long as you like it...

Now eight would have made scense. I'd love to hear to roar on that thing!

What is the red button? NOS or does it blink once boost goes over 35 psi?
