Talking Mercedes has the Q6820837

OK, just called the dealer, and they have the Part number Q6820837. I'm pretty sure this will fit and work, it just won't match the other levers.

The reason I'm sure it fits, I looked at the install guide for 2002 (my year) and 2003, and the part (Q6820837) matches the 2003 install guide. Looking at both cars, everything looks the same, except cosmetically.

Finally ordered, should be here Monday, as it's in stock at the warehouse.

Angry fregging part came in

fregging part came in, and it's the same one I have...still comes loose and all that. I'll try it on the 2003 model we have, and see if it works. On my 2002, it looks different, and comes loose.

I'll snap some pics tonight.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

Use a flashlight and look inside the hole in the steering column. Is there a small metal bar visible? If so, are you sure that you are pushing the lever in (at an angle) to compress the spring, twist, and release to lock it against the small metal bar?

Angry Yes, I think there's only one way to install it

Yah, i think theres only one way to install it. I push it in when the lever is pointed to the top, and turn it downwards...it goes to the down position, and stays...but no snap or click in. And it works fine that way till i reach to pull the key out, and that's when i usually knock it upwards...and when it's pushed a few times from removing key, it falls out.

AMG Jerry was kind enough to send me a pick of his, and the stalks are different. I think I'm just SOL.

Not so fast...

Don't give up yet. Take a look at the attached pictures for part information. Also, you could replace the switch that the lever is inserted into. When I did the paddle shifters on my C55, I removed the steering wheel (not a big deal) and the switch assembly that accepts the PTT lever is easily replaced.

I looked on top, and it says this is for a C32. Wouldn't this be the same part I have in the car? Can you look, and see item 25, is that part Q6820837? I just want to ensure that I have the right matches.

Thanks for not giving up, you the man!

The A008 number is the switch assembly. This could be a possibility if it is what is damaged/defective and why the lever pops out.

I looked further at the 25 part number (lever) and I believe that you need part number A203 545 00 44. Check your VIN to see if it is before F299403. Except Model year 803 means except model year 2003. And confirm build date before 5/31/2002, probably the end of the 2002's. The second part number listed excluded 2002. The 3rd part number is for 6/30/2004 and later. Probably the beginning of the C55's.

I can't cross the Q6820837 part number you gave, but the description is listed as 209 (CLK) VR lever.

2001-2002 C classes have a squarish lever to match all the other levers. 2003 and later cars have a more rounded lever.

Sunil, thanks for jumping in

OK, I guess this is now turning into a classified thread. Anyone have this VR lever from a 2001 and 2002 C-class laying around? I don't really want to go and replace the column part, and all that stuff.

I'm willing to pay 30 bucks for it...that's double the MSRP price. Anyone? Below is a pic of what it should look like.
