doesn't that sound like they want $55 for an oil change with no extra charge for mobil 1?
well..... so he rings me up and it is close to $80? i asked, "what about the special?"
he says, "yes, you get a $55 discount for free oil."
huh? you mean they would normally charge $135 when the dealer charges $100?
SO MISLEADING. i'm glad i only changed the oil, because i don't feel like i can trust anyone that does business like that!
I get calls all the time from people that say I won some trip or prize. First thing I tell them is I am not interested and to give the prize to someone else. They sound so shocked when I tell them that, like I am the first guy to reject their scam. You know damn well the prize is not free
Frank what's the shop you use in Rowland Heights for future reference. I figure if you use them that can't be all that bad. Thanks in advance....
Is it a MB dealership? If not, you may want to watch them VERY CLOSELY; I would! But if true, they may count on "real work" to be done at some future time.

he wrote it up when they pulled up my car. i'm sure he knows people would walk out if he tried the switch before hand.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
didn't know what was the cost of the service, you assumed it
was $55 + $3 + tax. In their defense.
In your defense you could've gotten your keys & walked away
if they were stupid enough to hand you over the keys. Who
authorized them to work on your car?... It was a courtesy
oil change... I didn't sign any estimate sheet that I was going
to be charged this XXX.XX amount... get the idea?
On a side note:
8-9 quarts of oil = 8-9 X $6.50 =$52.00 to $58.50
Oil filter = $5 to $10
Labor = myself
8-9 quarts of oil = 8-9 X $6.50 =$52.00 to $58.50
Oil filter = $5 to $10
- Oil $6.50/qt that's about right
- filter was $12 in 2002 - now I pay more than $20 (MB); where can you get a filter for $5?
Those are the same filters I used when I was working in a
independent BMW / MB / Volvo dealer.
Also use those same filter make on my M3 Turbo.
but heck for only $20 more, i can trust the dealer to do an honest oil change.
passes some doesn't. But been using it for the past year and
nothing wrong (yet?).
This weekend I "did" my own Service A. Someone posted a link to a PDF file that contains the work-order for a W203 Service A. For the most part, it's inspections, plus tire rotation and oil change. Silly to pay a dealer for that.
In addition to A and B, there are additional jobs required at mileage intervals. Some are beyond my abilities and/or patience (e.g. plug changes at 100K).
"I am selling a lot of 4 new Mahle (Knecht), Mann, or Hengst original equipment oil filters". Good for you. Your statement could cost someone lots of money.
Mahle makes racing car pistons and other items which have their established spot in the industry. I am not knocking the products you sell - just don't imply you know what you are talking about.
To buy anything other then a filter from MB for certain vehicles to save a dollar or two will make you (seller) a few bucks, but it has absolutely NOTHING (zero) to do with what a SERIOUS person should even consider; it is absolutely foolish to skimp here. Oil and filters are inexpensive and to use compliant materials is MANDATORY - especially, if you don't have a lot of cash.... to fix things.

No - he states
"Those are the same filters I used when I was working in a

Notice the past tense. I can testify that he no longer works there and does not sell any automotive parts on e-bay. He now manages his family's restaurant - but learned a lot while working in the industry. Doesn't mean he knows everything (don't think anybody on this board does!). But don't make it sound like he's pushing his stuff.
