CLK63 rims on C55

I've been thinking about getting the Style VI AMG rims for my car now for over a year. This is the AMG rim style that comes stock with the CLK63, E63, and CLS63 cars.

I decided I'm going to keep my car now for at least the next 3-5 years, so I wanted to "update" the look of the car to keep it in line with the current 63 cars (especially with the very aggressive C63 coming out). The new rims are from a CLK63, with the titanium silver painted finish. 8x18 ET34 in the front, and 8.5x18 ET30 in the rear. I'm using my original stock rubber, 225/40 R18 fronts, and 245/35 R18 rears.

I absolutely love the new look. Even though they are the same diameter as my old rims, they look noticeably bigger because the spokes go all the way to the edge of the rim, and I think the titanium grey finish goes well with my Pewter silver car. I think my car looks more aggressive than before with these rims. My wife thinks my car doesn't look as low key or elegant as before, and she actually prefers the older Style IV rims. But a more aggressive look is what I definitely wanted now, and I'm a major fan of the "OEM" look with AMG parts.

these rims are sexy on that C55/C32..

how much?

they will hard to find, since the CLK63's are not selling very well.

When the new SLK63 comes out, I wonder what kinda wheels it will have?

I love those rims. Any suggestions on cost?

Best thing about them is that you can see the front brakes better now.
Worst thing about them is that you can see the rear brakes better now.

Anyone recall what the ET is on the stock C55? I think that the fronts are 7.5x18 and the rears are 8.5x18. Am I correct?

Nevermind I found out the fronts are ET30 and the Rears are ET34. So question comes into play the wheels you have are Front ET34 and the Rear are ET30. How did those fit without spacers?

Thanks for all the compliments.

I was pretty sure the W209 CLK63 rims would fit a W203 C55 as they essentially share the same underpinnings. Remember that the CLK63 has even bigger 6 piston and 4 piston brakes than the stock C55, so there should not be any issues with brake clearance.

Even though the front offset is 4 mm more than the stock front C55 rims, the CLK rim is 0.5 inches wider, so that the actual front track width is slightly WIDER than the stock C55 setup. For sure the rear track width is also increased, given a 4 mm decrease in offset for the same rim width.

I bought the Style VI rims directly from Mercedes Benz Canada (dealership), who got them shipped from AMG in Germany. I simply gave them the part numbers, which you can find out from the 2007 AMG Accesorries Brochure (which you can download from the AMG international website. The Style VI rims come with either a titanium grey paint finish, or with the standard sterling silver paint finish.....make sure you provide the right part number.

See pic below (from the AMG international website) to see the part number for the Style VI rim in titanium grey paint finish, which is what I bought.

No, I'm not planning to sell anything at this point, although I may change my mind in the future. Going to keep my stock Style IV rims for occasional track duty.

18x7.5 ET30 and 18x8 ET34 should have pretty much the same clearance for the brakes. the mm you lost from the offset you gain back with the 0.5" wider wheel which gives .25" (6mm) to the brake clearance.

Yup, you gotta pay for that AMG logo and look. The alternative, of course is if you can buy a set off a current CLK63 owner, or if you can buy replicas.

Most aftermarket rims are significantly cheaper.

you also have to consider the shape of the spokes and thickness of the pad on the wheel. given the off-set you can still have issues depending on the nature of the wheel. but yes in this case it all fits really well and the car looks great.

I am shocked at the price but PC seems really happy so its clearly worth the fee. I do like the style of all the new amg wheels. Very classy and sporty.

No, I don't plan on lowering my car or getting any CF front lip for the front bumper. Rather, what I've been thinking about is whether to get a C55 Performance package bumper or a CLK63 front bumper........now THAT'S EXPENSIVE............much more than what these new rims have costed me. Holding off on anything now until the finances grow again.....

yea, it also depends on the design of the wheel. was just comparing the ones on topic here.
