Xenon Predicament
The problem I am having is that I want to be able to check that the headlights are going to work. Now I've been reading numerous threads that say that you must have the xenon setting present in your vehicle in order for the lights to work. Currently I have the halogen headlights and I was wondering if it was possible to put the setting to xenon while I have the halogen headlights? From what I was reading on the forum, you can't have the xenon setting present for the halogen lights to work.
I figured if I have the xenon setting present I would be able to plug up the xenon headlights and check if they work, but I don't think I'm going to be able to install the lights while I'm there. I may be driving there at night so I would like my halogen lights to work.
What would every one suggest I do? Should I be able to have the halogen lights work with the xenon light setting on? Is there another way to see if the xenon lights work? What should I look out for when I go pick up the lights?
Oh, and if some of the fellow Houston member could point me towards some dealer or individual that can set my xenon setting, I would really appreciate it. I just purchased a xenon kit for my car before I found these headlights and hopefully it will arrive soon. If that happens I may just install them and have the xenon setting set. Then I can drive over there with the setting set and I would be able to check if the lights work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
now go to Dallas and make your deal. drive back to Houston and seek the
service and counsel of Sunil @ motorwerks.com. he can help you install the
lights *and* version code.
you're fortunate to be in Houston....Sunil's home base.

I'm going to be at school all day to day. So once I'm done with class, I plan on trying to install the lights in the parking garage at my school, considering that it's indoors and well lit.

call me later, i can tell you how to fix it...
if you don't get the code (which I recommend)
you need to do the following at night.
open your door
turn on your headlights and let them stay on without inserting the key or turning on the engine.
wait about a minute (this is the embarrasing part)
turn the car on and hope they stay on. Most of the time if you repeat this procedure it will work.
I drove the car a few months like that until I had STEVE configure the xenon code for $50.
My dealer would not do it. But you may find others that might.
I bought my set from ebay 2 years ago for $1200 brand new from Europe. One of the best mods I have done.
If and when I trade that car, they will come off and be sold.
