Thanks for the info Clk&Slk, that is really useful ...... if anyone has any pics of the gearbox can they post them, so we can see where the access to the torque convertor is.

.............I just go through looking at the engine bay of a C32 for the first time. A guy brought his over for me to see. As far as I can tell, the idler pulley is smooth and not ribbed. The alternator and power steering pullies are 8 ribbed pullies. Am I correct? Thanks.

Yes, they are 8 ribbed.

...........Thanks!! Now the real question is; Do you think I can swap my W210 E55 single 6 rib belt system with a C32 single 8 rib belt system by swapping all the pullies. Assume that I have a brand spanking newly rebuilt W210 E55 engine with 8.5:1 compression with a Kleemann s/c, and I wish to take advantage of the various C32 higher boos crank pullies. Yes, I already have an 8 rib s/c pulley. Vary eager to hear your reply. Thanks.

i know for sure you would have to use the A/C compressor from the C32, as you can not remove the pulley...everything else may come down to an alignment issue for the belt...

.............Good tip. Thanks! I am definitely going to try this. I don't mind swapping the ac compressor. If I can consent to having my entire engine rebuilt, swapping an ac compressor will be no big deal. I was mostly concerned about harmonic balance between the V6 crank pulley vs the v8 crank pulley. However I notice that most Mercedes V6 and V8 engines use the same oem crank pulley.

yes, but having your engine rebuilt is much different than trying to fabricate new brackets so that all the accesories line up correctly along with making sure the belt is routed correctly over a ribbed or a smooth surface... you may want to do some research before you start purchasing these items...a new A/C compressor for the C32 is $1150.00 if i remember correctly...

Steve, here is a pic for you, you can see how much room there is once you remove the radiator fan...

That's what I am concerned about. Will the pulley put stress on the blower in a long run? also, does the LET pulley need to run with a ecu tunning?

................understood. I am not going to be doing this with my own hands. I have absolutely no illusion that this is going to work. If the project works, it will be great. If not, the old pullies go back on and the C32 parts go on ebay. That part is not a problem.

.........My questions were to determine if it is feasible. I know that an AC compressor is expensive. I recently had one changed on my CLK for the same price. Unfortunately for those that choose to modify their cars, having to change an Ac compressor is not daunting if the overall project is feasible. The power steering pulley is also sold as a unit at the dealer. It is not sold separately. One can probably go the aftermarket route and purchase a complete stage one C32 kit and a new AC compressor. Thank you for your input.

Ted,

Let me know if you need stock pullies. I have my pulley's (crank, idler, water pump) from my SLK32 in the garage. The crank pulley was replaced under warranty and has a couple of hundred miles on it.

If you are interested I am sure we can work something out and I can talk with Rich about getting the pulley's over to the shop.

I have heard rumors that LET will build headers for the SLK32/320 in the future. But right now the only option is Steve's headers.

I am very much looking forward to my LET pulleys. They look and sound like a great product.

Thanks! LET will be pursuing a SLK32/SRT-6 header design in the near future...hopefully there will be some updates soon!

The following link is an writeup with pics of an ASP pully onto a CLS55 ... do we have the same gearbox as them, so the Torque Convertor hole that you guys talked about will be the same as in these pics ....... also did you need the puller to get it off initially?

steve, our access hole looks a little different, but you can't miss it if you get under the car...there are 2 access holes on our car and they are small rectangles...i will try to take a pic for you next time i have the car jacked up...
