Ok guys, i know a lot has been written about this, but i'm starting to go crosseyed trying to read all of this stuff about suspension and coilovers, and there's some conflicting threads. SO, can someone answer some questions for me? ALL I REALLY WANT IS A BETTER HANDLING CAR, WITH A NICE DROP, THAT DOESN'T SACRIFICE THE RIDE.......

i ordered H &R coilovers for my car and I'm having the head tech from my dealership put them on this weeekend. Is there anything else I'm going to need? i've gathered i will not need the #4 pads, but what is stuff about spacers. I'm running the stock C55 wheels on my C32.

Will i have to worry about rubbing?

Will i be able to adjust the drop in the back so it doesn't look stupid?

Is there much adjustment on the H&R's

I've been told the PSS9's are too harsh even on the softest setting- is this true?

How does the H&R compare to the PSS9s? I can afford either, so i don't care about the money (although, it sounds like I'd have to wait to get the PSS9s)

CAN SOME OF YOU GUYS PLEASE, PLEASE POST your thoughts on this one thread. the other threads all over the place.

thanks

All I can say is that I have H&R with #4 pads and can't complain one bit. Ride is slightly dropped - which leads to better handling. And any change to ride comfort is negligable. And the price wuz right

your C55 wheels shouldn't rub.

you may need a spacer (3-5mm) up front, depending on how low you go.

how much do you want to drop in the rear? if it is too low for you on the highest setting, you can cut a spring pad so its level and use that.

I'd start with coilvers. I had H&R springs, then Renntech springs, and now I wish that I had coil overs. The coilovers let you drop the car just how you like. Take a look at some pictures of cars with springs.

thanks for the thoughts on the springs. i'm really picky and i really don't want to drop the rear at all. the rear spacing totally fine with me. it's that huge gap in the front the bugs the hell out of me.

wouldn't mind being able to corner better too! i already take turns waaaaay tooo fast.......

as i'm doing more research i starting to be ok with the H&R coilovers.

i had my H&R for about 2.5 years now, and I just switched over to PSS9 a month ago. the ride is definitly different, H&R is alot softer, my PSS9 is acutally not too bad of a ride. You can't go wrong with the H&R, I wanted to switch mine out because I have too much stereo/mods in the back so I wanted something firmer. if you got any Qs, just ask me.

Rubbing would not be an issue if you have stock C55 wheels on. Mine used to have C55 wheels on with 225, 255 rubber and they did not rub.

When you lower the car, the wheels would look funny as they all move towards inside, this will be the time when you start thinking of a set of new wheels.

The PSS9s are rough even with soft settings. If you want a decent balance between "comfort" (if there is still any) and "performance" (I am sure you will have this), get the H&R. Make sure you order the sways as well as they do make a lot of difference

You should get about 2" of height adj, but i never came across anyone with the lowest.

can't suggest a shop as i think we are in different places, go find them from local shops or even online

I have H&R sways on and they are so great, once you have the coilovers, and sways, the car drives different.

C32 is so powerful, there is a need to upgrade its feet.

im got the Pss9 for $48000NTD including install. which is around 1400USD. but, they were havin a special deal, so... i jumped in. i really do not that the PSS9 is that rough, it acutally gave me more feel to the road. I am loving it right now.

I have been using H&R coilovers for almost a year, and I use my car as a daily driver. Nothing to complain about whatsoever. The handling is definitely improved, the ride is not too punishing and the height is perfect with #3 pads. Based on your post, looks like H&R would be perfect for you. But if you plan to track your car regularly then I'd suggest you to get PSS9.

Here are some pics for height reference:

And I was told by someone on this forum that spring pads weren't needed for the H&R coilovers.

Did you change the swaybars?

My H&R coilovers are sitting in the garage waiting for me to find a good installer in SoCal as close to Thousand Oaks as possible. Anybody have any recommendations. Evosport is a long way from home but I'll go there if no one else has any other ideas.

I’m not sure whether spring pads would be needed or not. The reason I reused the existing pads was to avoid having my wheels slammed. If you look at my pics, the rear suspensions were already set at the highest (tallest). Maybe it’d be OK not to use the pads, but I’d imagine the rear would sit very low.
PS: I didn't change the swaybars either.
