Failure to Maintain Proper Control, Reckless, 74 in a 55

BV, you called it right on the money. Almost. I went out for my nightly "get acquainted" cruise with my new baby. Heading home I turned onto the highway and opened it up. Sadly it was too dark to see the county sheriff's car sitting across the intersection. I goosed it after I made my left and did a really sweet "J" slide burnout to the right side most of the way through 1st. Then, very much to my surprise, it vaporized the tires shifting into 2nd and fishtailed a little to the left. Once it hooked up about a quarter of the way through 2nd I really took off and blew past a few cars. When I hit about (what I thought) was 60 I let off and just cruised along. About a 1/4 mile later a pair of headlights comes tearing up behind me and the rollers come on immediately; no calling in and following (my wife was a cop so she told me how it works). He does the license and registration thing and, you won't believe this, but I forgot to bring my wallet. I never do that. WTF?!? So he asks me if I know why he pulled me and I tell him that I can't believe I was speeding because, although I did a boneheaded "Starsky and Hutch" move at the light I was sure I let off at 60. So he starts reading me the riot act about reckless and failure to maintain proper control of a motor vehicle. And oh by the way he says he clocked at 74 back there. He takes my social down and off he stomps to his cruiser. He comes back empty handed just 2 minutes later and I am thinking no ****** way. He looks me in the eye and says I have a perfect "plus five" driving record and I was honest with him about the stupid burnout so he is giving me a warning only. The guy was very cool. I could not believe he didn't lock me up. And it's only day 2.

Seriously, a V1 would have come in mighty handy.

Except for the fact that had you been pulled over in VA with the V1 in there, you most certainly would not have come away with just a warning.

yes...I know

Driving these cars is like taking drugs.

You pull out, drop the hammer and it's like a drug hitting your brain.....then you wake up and you are doing 110 mph and looking around to see what is around you.

Pure exhilaration...Be careful.

What I need is more than ESP, I need SPC (Stupid Performance Control). It would be a radar detector hooked up to the ESP so when it sensed a cop nearby it would (1) prevent all wheel spin 100%, (2) cut the available power in half and (3) limit the top speed to 55 mph. Problem solved.

C32s already have something similar to that. It's called an intercooler pump. As soon as you finally get a chance to do a highway pull against that 335i, the ic pump stops and (2) and (3) occur.

I did something similar getting off the freeway once.. I was in my C32 with the ESP off.. punched the gas a little too hard and too early on the turn and was totally sideways wheels spinning.. then wham, pulled it around with a little fish tail and took off.. LMAO.. the people at the stop light about 200 feet away must have been like HOLY ****.. look at that psyco.

Luckily no cops around to witness.. Scared the **** out of me, but boy was it fun.. oops!

Only had my intercooler pump fail once and of course it was when a new M5 wanted to play.. not that it would have mattered I guess..

The OP reminds me of when I had first picked up my car. I purchased my car in Chicago and was driving back to MN (home at the time) and ended up having a serious game of cat and mouse with a CLK AMG. A copper was hiding and got us going WAAAAY over the limit on a nice clear patch of 4 lane. The CLK ran for it and I was the one that pulled over. Ended up with a warning explaining I had only owned the car for a matter of minutes and was not used to it.lol Total BS and the nice female office knew it but let me off with a warning. The out of state ticket would have been several hundred on the spot she was saying. I was very grateful!
The second time I was pulled over (less than a week later) I wasn't so lucky. Thought I had some punk coming up to race me in a Charger. Turns out it was a cop Charger and he threw the cherries after being dusted.lol That ticket put a dent in the wallet and it was of course my own dumbass fault admittedly. First ticket I had received in years and the last since. In the end, we can only get lucky so many times. Hopefully your luck holds out!

Oh man that is my worst nightmare. We used to have 5.0L Mustang pursuit cars here in VA, there is a Z28 state trooper car here now, and the troopers have started getting Charger pursuit cars lately. But not SRT-8's right? VA just added a $1000 extra fine to reckless tickets. If he wrote me up for speeding AND reckless it would have been about $1500.

I'm not sure if it was an SRT or not...never got a close enough look at the side or rear of it. It was hard to tell it was a cop though because there was no light bar and he didn't have his radar on (I have a V1 and had it on at the time).
