Need helP making decision with 19's

I am thinking of buying the BBS LM 19" in the classifieds section but I am worried they will rub. they are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. Please help me. Thanks

Dont worry, they will not rub. Only they WILL NOT FIT! The offset is wrong. I dont think spacer will solve the problem either. I was thinking of getting the LM but Peter told me that its not possible for them to fit on a C32.

Find some other wheels!

Im sad to say that the C32 is one of the hardest cars to buy wheels for, there are only a handful of wheels that fit them and when you try to ask someone who supposedly knows what there talking about...they really have no clue either.

I have generated a list of wheels that will fit on a C32 before, maybe I shall post it one more time. The following are the wheels (18"+) that I'm 100% sure that will fit on a C32:

1) Brabus Monoblock VI 18" one-piece & multi-piece
2) Brabus Monoblock VI 19" multi-piece
3) Brabus Monoblock IV one-piece
4) Carlsson 2/5 Brilliant Edition 18", 19"
5) Carlsson 1/6 Evo & Evo Diamond 18"
6) Carlsson 2/6 Brilliant Edition 18", 19"
7) Carlsson 1/16 19" (not available yet, I've been inquiring that since Oct 2001, my latest info is Dec 2002)
8) HREs (because they are all custom fitment)
9) AMG Styling III 18" two-piece
10) SSR GT3 18", 19"
11) OZ Racing Vela 2 18" (Japanese version)
12) BBS CH 18" two-piece (Japanese version, custom order)
13) BBS Magnesium Racing wheel 19" (custom order)
14) Lorinser LM5 and LM6 18", 19"
15) Maido MD1 19" (made in Japan by Lowenhart)

Of the above, I think only Carlsson, AMG & Maido are the ones that do not need any hub-centric spacers or regular spacers. If you know any wheels that will fit on a C32, feel free to add on to my list!

I vote for #13 without even seeing how they look, but I venture that they are the most expensive on the list.

Yes, you are right. I think they are close to US$2000/piece. I've never been serious that I would buy them, so I never find out exactly how much they are.

They look like the LM, only with different contruction/materials.

this is one of the member's car from c32life.com. Actually I really think he bought the car from my sales (it was my sale's car) in may this year as a used car. I know because i have seen it in person, and checked out the two amp my sales had put in. all the mods was done by my sales. anyway here is the pic.

the rims are 19's from BBS (not sure which model) and it does uses a spacer. i think it looks great!

It looks like BBS RG-2 piece to me.

Frank, why didnt you ask your sales what model are the wheels just for the sake of curiosity?

Yes, only with modifications to the wheels & bolts. The bolts for these wheels are different than the C. Definitely not a plug and play set up.

There are a couple of members with C240/320 have these wheels on, check out the C-class forum, but I dont think any C32s have them on.

Harris, are you sure that the Carlsson 1/16 will fit? I really like those wheels. Strange thing is that the wheels are already available in INDONESIA (Edit) and it looks pretty stunning.

The price is probably be around 1700-1800/set for the Diamond edition.

Edit: Sorry for the confusion Harris

According to my Carlsson catelogue, yes. I know they're out in Europe, but are you sure they're available in the States already???? If so, where????

pc527: you have to tell people what modifications you have done to the fenders in order to make the wheels fit. And also, the LM's offset should be way off, I dont think your spacer is "thin".

peter@wheelexpert: seems like you and Luke were both wrong on whether LM can be fitted on a C32?! comments?

Don't listen to Harris, He is wrong

Harris, you need to do more home work. You can't go out and give people the wrong informations. All C,CLK,SLK,E have the same offset. Those LMs fits just as good as the Brabus VI, only 3mm spacers and minor rear fender roll is needed only if you decide to go with 265 size tires in the rear. Even with Brabus you'll need spacers too.
I had my wheels mount and balanced and installed at F1 motorsports in N. Hollywood.

BBS LM WILL FIT C32 WITH NO PROBLEM.

Anyone interestred in LMs I can get you a brand new set for under $3200.

Afterall, all you want is advertise for yourself and sell a few sets of LMs!! I see, I see. Sorry!

I cannot see how right is your information either. We are talking about the C32, not an ordinary C. I never considered myself to be an "expert" in wheels. I am learning everyday. When I bought my Mono VI months ago, I was enquiring about the LMs. I am only relaying all the info that peter@wheelexperts has told me. Peter even checked with Luke@tirerack and they both confirmed that the LM will not fit on a C32. Thats why I dropped the idea of getting the LM and bought the Mono VI instead. Read my very first response, I said Peter told me that it is not possible!!! Please dont get me wrong, I am not blaming on Peter, I am only telling the FACT. The C32 fender is pre-rolled from the factory, if you need to roll the fender again in order for to make the LM fit, to me, that cannot be considered as "fit". Well, different people interpret the word "fit" differently.

Offset is not determined by cars. Offset is determined by wheels. Your statement should be: C, CLK, SLK, E all require wheels with the same offset. But I have a question for you: assuming what you said is correct, can you tell me why there are only 7 wheels available for the C32 but 85 wheels available for a C240 on the Tirerack website???? According to their site, BBS LM is available on a C240 but not for a C32.

I had a set of Carlsson 2/5 Alurad on my ex-CLK430 before, when I traded in for the C32, I had my dealer installed the 2/5 on the C32. Guess what, the front need spacers and the rear spacers needed to be taken out. So I have serious doubt that a CLK shares the same offset as a C32. Since you sound so confident that you're more knowledgable than me, maybe I should let you find out the answer yourself.

If you have the guts to pick on somebody, go and pick on those big guns. I am a nobody, its a waste of time to pick on me. If you want to prove your point, write to Tirerack and tell them that they are misleading the world.

A forum is a place for people to share info, if you are hoping all the info that you see on the board is right, you will be disappointed. I will only say something that I am confident with, the LM issue is something that I asked before and something that I was told, thats why I said so. I am here ONLY to share whatever information that was presented to me and tried to help out.

Excuuuse me.

Look amgc32 you might have some right to bash Harris for not knowing the LM did actually fit if you responded a few days ago. BUT since you decided to keep your info to yourself, .... lets just say don't be so damn rude to somebody that spent 1/2 hour trying to help a co-member out to the best of his knowledge while you were, ....where?

THANK YOU for sharing your information, now we can add another wheel that fits the C32.

BTW not every C, CLK, SL, E etc wheel fits the C32, where have you been? You are really passing the BS. Are you just not informed or are you trying to "sell" something? That is just WRONG!

I asked Peter at wheelexperts yesterday what 18" wheels fit without modification and the BBS LM was not one of them. That is all I know...

rrf,
charlie and i was not trying to hold info back to ourselves.
both of us just got our rims earlier this week and we didn't see this thread till yesterday when i posted the pix.

and no, charlie is not just trying to sell something, he's offering his help like the way he helped me get my set for the best price in town.

for those that are interested, i'll be taking some pix of the work that was done in the back to prevent the rub. it was just some minor fender work but i'm not good at explaining so i'll just take some pix to show u all.

peter

Simply put, I just didn't like how Peter ragged on Harris. Harris was one of the early guys to install aftermarket wheels on the C32 and has helped advise many other folks. The comment was pretty lame. I am sure everyone is doing the best they can with what they know, but he implied that Harris was not being forthright.

The best way to be absolutely sure a tire and wheel setup works on the C32 is to bolt them on and try them. Short of bolting them on ourselves, we all rely on the kindness of others to relay their experiences. So that said, we are lucky to have you, and Harris, tell us about how you did it, what works and what doesn't.

If one contributor bails out because another insults him, we all would lose.

Let's get back to the technical stuff, and leave the other crap out of it, OK?
