if for some reason you dont like the above method, disconnect your battery for at least 30 minutes

I use the key/gas pedal method all the time (at least once a week). It is harmless to the car and quick. It is effective also.
Do not disconnect the battery to reset the ECU. There are too many errors that can and will occur if you do.
By the way, I have learned that you can skip the 2 minute wait step of the process. I pull the key almost right away. I just don't start the car up for a little while.
