If you could tell me the violation number I can help out some more. I am going to guess you got the standard 26708.a.1 which is:

26708. (a) (1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows.

Usually the ticket is $210 IF YOU DO NOT CORRECT THE VIOLATION. The ticket you received usually is a correctable violation or "fix it ticket"

You have to correct the issue with the car. IE remove the tint from the front two windows. Then go to your local police department (call first and confirm that location signs off tickets, if not they can tell you where to go) Some PD's charge a fee to sign off the ticket.($10) Then all you have to do is present the stamped and signed ticket to the court house and USUALLY just pay a ten dollar fee.

hope this helps

Why remove all the tint, front and back? CA law only prevents applying tint to front drivers side and passenger windows and the windshield. Back windows and rear are all fine.

I've used an unmatched tint on my past two cars. Use 50% up front then 25% in the back and it will look like the fronts aren't even tinted. Keeps the car a lot cooler in the sun than stock.

1qikctr - maybe this is a stupid question but... did you have the original blue-ish tint under the dark one?

My tint is getting scratched by the window/door seal and I was thinking in getting it back to stock.

There is a felt material that is installed inside your door, so that is the only thing that comes in contact with the tint. Try contacting Xlnt Tint in Anaheim (800) 495-6884 for more info
