Quad Exhaust on C32

How hard is it to put quad exhaust on a 2003 C32? If it can be done are the other two outlets dummies or do the have flow? If anyone has pics this would be great.

Depends on how you want to do it. I think there's a clunky system that runs a pipe from the rear muffler over to the other side. Someone here adapted a C55 exhaust which runs all the way from the catalytic converter. I think it required some modification of the spare tire well.

My view on it is that it's excess weight without any performance enhancement. If all you're looking for is the "look" then why add all the plumbing weight needed to make actual exhaust come out? Just graft fake tips on the right. Pontiac did it through most of the 1980s!

I'm a performance purist and I think some day we'll laugh at the multitude of exhaust tips that we're putting on cars today, like we laugh at tail fins from the 1960s. How long before we see the first dual-triple setup? Vrooooom.

It would just be for looks. If I have to mess with the spare tire well then I will leave it as is. Good point on the extra weight.

We have an Audi TT as a weekend car, and it cracks me up that it has a dual exhaust setup. It is a FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE!!! One exhaust manifold dumping into one pipe. It is ridiculous that they would then split the single exhaust into two solely for the appearance of performance.

These days, even V-configuration engines have their exhaust systems merge or at least cross-over at some point. From that point to the rear bumper, there's no reason for dual exhausts other than looks.

Bud4ya: Now that you're into the C32, one thing you will notice is the multitude of C230 Sport editions that look EXACTLY like your car. Benz whored out the AMG styling right down to the exhaust tips. No doubt, it helped them sell a lot of C-class cars.

The most imporant part is missing on the C230 though the engine I cannot wait to beat it around the roads today and see what it really has.

One tip. When the roads are DRY, I always turn off the traction control (dashboard button). You'll find the system can really impair acceleration. I only leave it on when it rains. With the t/c off, you do have to worry about lighting up the tires. I don't know where you live, but in my area, the cooler weather is kicking in, and supercharged/intercooled engines LOVE cool air.

I swapped my c32 exhaust for a C55 exhaust.. It is almost a direct bolt on except that you will need to swap your spare wheel tub with one from a C55. I did a write up with pictures.

I did this for the sound and the look. I really didn't care about the extra 20lbs max difference in weight as I never tracked the car and .01 of a second 1/4 mile means zero to me..
