HIGH WINDING NOICE from oil fill/oil filter?????
does anyone else get a HIGH winding noise in the mornings? on they're C32's? noticed that it was coming from (or at least seemed as if it was) the oil filter cap or oil fill cap.... at first i thought it was my power steering fluid chamber b/c i have Lucus' P/S fluid which is really thick... but it goes away after the car warms up... i changed my S/C bearing lastnight... b/c i originally thought it was the bearing making the noise(which the car idles smoother and no Knocking/clicking noise anymore thanks for the those who helped with my questions ) but since i think the noise is coming from something Engine OIL related... is there any kind of Engine Additive(s) that will stop the oil from getting heavy when its cold? but still wont burn off too fast when its warm? (im sure there isn't) or could i be using too thick of an oil during the cold months? 0w40 like the MB manual states... should i go with something like a 5w30, 10w30? i know from my EVO when i used Royal purple's heavier weight oils in the winter it kind of made a simular noise but was more rough sounding b/c the engine was struggling with the thicker oil which took 30minutes to warm up...

had this same problem - the whining noise is extremely surprising, sounds like it's going to blow up..... and once the car is warm, it goes away. happens when it's cold, right? especially now since it's late fall / winter.
dropped it off at the dealer, had them keep it overnight, good thing outside temp dropped to the low 40s, they started the car and heard it clearly - power steering pump issue, it cracked and leaked fluid, so the noise is due to low fluid, replaced everything. ~$300, not covered under warranty it seems.

mine was doing the same thing...it was the power steering pump, it was a little low on fluid...i bet yours does it because of the thicker fluid you are trying to run through the system...
change your fluid and i bet it goes away...

1x OIL TANK 000-460-01-83 $38.78
