The anti-scratch stuff is called Feltskin or Moleskin. It is a soft lining along the end of the window to protect the tint from scratching up. Your tint will NOT come out purple. Purple tint is usually a result of very old tint, but nowadays most tint shops give warrantys for bubbling and purpling.
You need to ask yourself...
How dark do you want to go?
Do you want to be legal?
I have 15% and it is similar to the tint on the back windows of SUV's and minivans

What percentage is the factory tint? I think in PA, 25% is as dark as you're legally allowed to get... it might even be 30%, not sure...

C32 AMG - RIP :(
I have a silver C32 with dark tint on it. I bought it that way though, so I'm not sure what % it is. It's at MB getting some work done, but when I get it back I'll take a pic and post it.

Whatever you decide... put a Moleskin kit on it, otherwise it will get scratched.

There is another window protector. It's used in the military, they say their stuff is so good that there are molecules in the chemical that seals little wholes in the windsheild... and has an effect of rainex too... do you know which one I am talking about? I'ts pretty expensive too.
Mikegpr03,
FWIW, I say not to go too dark on a silver car. I say go with the one with the slight titanium affect on it...
