Question Question. Whats a faster 4 door car?

I have been thinking about it, and i cant seem to think of a faster 4 door stock production car available in America, and actually anywhere in the world, leaving aside the new MB V-12s and V-8s which are JUST CRAZY! Does this make the c32 the fastest 4 door in the world???

i dont think so. BMW m5's are pretty quick but i think some people said they beat them . Ferrari has specially made 4 door sedans which im sure are really quick.

Unhappy

im sorry, i meant which car would be quicker than the c32 not faster. I always thought that the c32 is quicker 0-60 than the m5, as the m5 is 5.3 secs accordin to bmw and c32 is 4.9 accordin to mbusa. And i am leaving out like the ferraris because those are not really 'production' cars i wouldnt say.

yeah the RS6... yup thats one i left out.

Yeah....

The M5 is much faster than 5.3 to 60. Thats what BMW says but in reality C&D, Automobile etc. can get it there in 4.8. Even if the C32 could hang with the M5 to 60 it would get blown away after that. The M5 is known to be a monster from about 80 up.

I am not taking anything away from the C32. It is a great car, just the M5 is faster!!

Later Guys,

if i know how to drive a manual, i'd take the M5 in a heart beat.

if you are not counting the V8 powered cars like M5, RS6, and AMG's NEW 55k series, and the NEW 600 from MB, then YES, C32 is the quickest and the fastest 4-door compact that are out there.

hmmm... I don't think the c32 is the fastest sedan in the world. You guys have been talking about I6's and v6's. But the fastest sedan in the world has an inline 4, believe it or not.

Introducing the Evo 7 extreme...
0-60 in 3.8 seconds. Now what can beat that???

Smile Some of the street version of rallycar are fast...

RS4, Mist Evo VII (soon to be VIII) and WRX Sti. All these 3 cars can out gun C32 with less engine displacement.

I understand that LanEvo can be tuned to go crazy. But that particular one... the Extreme, although it may have 4 doors, but can it sit 4 passengers? I mean the back passengers don't have to duck down or sit on the floor pan right?

BTW, what's the spec to that Extreme?

Something off the topic about C32....
Quite a while ago I read something similar on the M5 forum about the fastest 4 door sedan on the planet. (yes, I considered buying an M5, but the dealer never gave me a chance.) Anyway, the M5 ads claimed it was the fastest sedan in the world at the time it was launched. So folks from Britain (if i remember it correctly) challenged this claim with machines like LanEvos and WRX's: STi, P1.... Quite a lot of M5 owners went to event, despite BMW's threat of voiding the attendees' warrenty. Result: the M5's got swiped out completely. I know this is not a fair competition as the challengers are mostly tunned. However, it neverthless proved a point that BMW should shut the ***k up about claiming their cars being the fastest.

(I have negative "chi" toward BMW, as you can see, because I think they are overly hyped by some. Also, past experience w/ BMW machines made my "chi" even more negative. The worst source of my negative "chi" has to come from the super ugly designs of the recent BMW models.... What's w/ the Z4? A freaking bread head when viewed from the side.)

Wow, Extreme is crazy; and it actually sits 4. Any of you guys got spare money to import some fun LanEvo toys? Here is a link:

Is that stock coming from Mitsubishi?? Or from RalliArt??. Do Mitsu sell that car at their dealership in japan? a stock japanese version of the top of the line EVO XII GSR is running 5 second 0-60 i believe.

what's WRX STi's spec and time? I know it's a 2.0 liter turbo 4 that will produce about 320 + hps...

RS4 is a wagon, not a sedan

yeah but look at the mitsub and the subaru.....they are cheap veichles and the c32 is a car.....and those japanese rice burners have some serious turbo boost.....we'll have to see how long those turbo bearing last untill you limp it back to the garage for repair.

They have some fast four door cars in Australia, 390hp, 455hp and even one with 570hp all based on v8's either normally aspirated or supercharged from the factory.

BHP: 339bhp @ 6,369rpm

0-60mph: 4.2secs

EVO VII Extreme S
Engine: 4 cylinder, turbo charged 1997cc

Apparently you feel a lot of bad vibe towards BMW, but I think the facts should be straight. The E39 M5 was named the fastest normal production car of its time. If such a car is compared with highly tuned P1s, Sti's, Evo's, or what have you, all bets are off. Heck, a Ferrari or some exotic won't even compare with some of the performance those cars yield after it's been modded to some extent.

Also, I highly doubt a company would threaten to void a warranty in that situation as you described.

For the Australian cars that may be quicker than a C32, I believe athlon70 is referring to the Holden HSV lineup.

Too Young To Drive
Those specs aren't too impressive, sure, it has a good 0-60 time, but heck, anyone can do that if your 1st, 2nd and 3rd Gear Ratios are all above 10.0 and your final drive is 37.3:1. What's the top speed of the car? How quickly does it get to 124 MPH, or how about 186?

yes, and certainly they can change the boost pressures to push it even further. I assume compression on these cars are already very high so reliabilty is a factor if one does not consider it. Not sure about the top end, but I don't think that number is too high, maybe no more that ~150mph due to the differentials. As such, bigger displacement Jap machines such as the R34 or MKIV (and not to mention the wide range of American, Italian, and German machines out there) that has been tuned to some extent will easily take these EVOs at higher speeds.

HSV's are hot and fast cars but they are nowhere as well built in quality then the merc's and BMW's. but for the prices they sell at, they are good for what they are worth....

HSV GTS 300KW costs 98,000 $AU vs E55 AMG 220,000 $AU and M5 round 200,000 $AU more or less

best buy hsv is the clubsort 60,000 $AU 255KW V8 ...0-100km 6.2sec

yep, that's definitely GM quality right there. but no one can beat that price per hp in Aus.

GM is going to bring the HSV over the the states in 04 to sell as the Pontiac GTO, btw. When it arrives in the states in 04, hopefully it won't get those plastic cladding that haunt the Pontiac brand.

HI all,

nice thread!
But please don´t compare V6 engines with V 8,10 or 12! You can´t compare the M5 with a C 32!
If you do so then you should compare every car with the CLK GTR V12. Have phun....
