subscribed. Looking forward to the results. If you guys find it is possible to force the turbo charged air passed the blower while it is disengaged that would give me inspiration to build a rear mounted turbo setup for my SRT-6. Only problem I forsee at this point would be a 3.5" ground clearance on the charge pipes beneath the car. Good luck!

I'd be interested to see how many miles have been put on this car vis-a-vis durability and safety. Also, I wonder how extensive the tuning was to get this system optimized?
Thanks for translating the report!!

This sounds like a very affordable strategy to take the C32 to ~500 crank hp.

how do you figure that completely rebuilding a motor, adding a completely new supercharger, custom tuning, not to mention a few other odds and ends is affordable? i want your budget...
i would say a ballpark cost for this transformation would be $15000

I hear what you're saying - I priced it at about $10K in parts. Obviously labor would bring it up in price. I guess my point is that hp gains as a function of cost for our cars (and most cars) has a logarithmic relationship once you hit about 430hp!! I think I have been following the W211 AMG forum too long and I'm getting accustomed to what they shell out for the serious hp gains!

RENNtech C32 AMG
huh, those 1/4 mile times are what most of us are getting with our stage 1,2 setup. Too bad most of us would rarely use those high speeds to let that baby shine! If I lived near the Autobahn, I'd kill for those mods!

This doesnt make any sense to me. Im not blaming the translator but whats the deal. This car has 500hp but cant break 5 seconds to 60 or a 13.1 in the quarter mile?!?! Not to mention, how does it get from 0-200 kilometers/hour in 10 seconds and do a quartermile in 13.1 that would mean hes running a quarter mile time of 13.1 at 120+ miles an hour?? lol NO

I was expecting some early 4s for a 0-60 and some mid-late 12s for a 1/4. Anyway, thats what it says.

Yes, I wonder about this figure too when i did the translation. I did pay much attention to figures when I was doing it. If you would like to know more and to verify the figures, here is the link, but its in Chinese.

....without specifically adddressing this specific project, I am afraid that we may have all missed the window for TT projects on MB cars to be viable. With the 2003 CL600 soon to be under $30K and the CL65 selling in the $50K range, It would appear more expensive to TT your car instyead of acquiring an 03 or newer CL600 or a CL65. Yes, I understand that the C32 and CL are different cars and that the CL's are heavy etc. and can't be track cars. The problem is that whoever puts the money up in the R&D of MB TT projects cannot be certain customers will line up afterwards. Even an SL65 is now selling for $80K range.

It is hard to say whether there will be a line of customers wanting the TT on their C32s, nonetheless, this project is regarded as a breakthrough in MB tuning, and it sets the milestone to future TT projects in all MBs. Guess how a C63 TT would be!
Recall the Hammer 6.0 300E many years ago, don't know how much this car would cost by that time, definitely arms and legs. But without this Hammer thing, there might not be this logo "AMG" in today's MBs.
I totally agree with you Ted, even me myself might not think of TT-ing my C32, not trying to set up an debate here, but there are always "Hardcore" fans out there wanting even more from just TT-ing their cars, Erick, you need to do more, TT might just be the beginning!!!! maybe QT!!!!

The best way to increase boost pressure is to use either a smaller supercharger pulley or a larger crank pulley to increase the speed of the supercharger, thus forcing more air into the engine. Take C32AMG as an example, the original C32 supercharger pulley measures 74mm, crank pulley, 150mm. You may reduce the supercharger pulley to 72mm, with a crank pulley of 170mm-182mm to get more power. With the installation of a Schrick 272 duration cams and a 182mm pulley, the boost can reach 1.7-1.8 bar (original 1.1-1.2bar). this mod can bring the power of the C32 from 354hp to 450hp.
or would such a setup not be reliable?
what kind of boost can a regular c32 handle in terms of reliability?
im sure detonation is a huge factor.

Erick and I have both wanted to do this for years and decided to move forward on this project as a team. We are doing it for us and if anyone in the community wants to use our setup, then we will offer it at an affordable cost.
Like many others on the forum, Erick and I have eaten tons of money on projects that don't always have a positive ending.

Okay, let me get this out of the way - I for one can't wait to see this project come to fruition, and the results it produces.
However, Ted's comment is a good point too, I think (which cnchung addresses well, IMHO). Not a comment personally attacking anyone here, so let's keep the replies in perspective, alright? If you're starting from scratch, $30k into a CL600 and then add, I dunno, let's say $5-10k in mods, will yield an 800+ hp/tq monster that's capable of breaking into the 10s. That's a lot of performance for the money, because those cars have depreciated off of their MSRPs by a ridiculous amount.
@ Ted - what you're not considering is that nobody is modding any car because it makes sense financially... mods (especially complicated ones) can cost boatloads of money, and ultimately even hurt any resale value. So if someone's "pot committed" (so-to-speak) to their C32 already, I applaud the progress into relatively-uncharted modding territory for this model. Reminds me of Mallory's famous "because it's there" reply to the question "why do you climb this mountain?"

Very valid and good points. Something for all of us that "dump" money into these cars should think about.
