Nice car and welcome to the forum

Curious to see your opinion on which one is faster. Did your vette have the 5.7l in it? Was it an auto or a 6 spd? Judging by the weight and power i think a 6 spd would be about dead even maybe alittle faster....depending on the driver

My Vette had the 5.7l, 6 speed tranny, with 3.42 axle ratio, high flow air intake, after market exhaust, and Hurst shifter. From a dead stop, I think that because of the C55's weight, horspower lost through the auto tranny, and axle ratio, the advantage would go to the Vette. From a rolling start I think the advantage would diminish.

I've only had the C55 a couple of days so others who have more experience in both the C5 and C55 could probably answer better.

Do you honestly feel he can answer that when he just bought the car recently? The weight and sound difference alone would make the C5 feel faster then any C32/55. Its a whole different machine. I bet the only way to tell is by taking both a C5 and a C55 to a dragstrip and race them against eachother. The power advantage is not that much about 15-17 crank hp not RW advantage to the C55 but the weight difference and much wider tires on the C5 basically diminishes the minor HP advantage the C55 has. In ALOT of threads I read its a drivers race but the C5 has the edge. I can only say we are more then a match to a auto WS6 with a LS1 in stock form. But I did see at the same track a WS6 6spd with headers and full exhaust doing 12.90s....and I bet he spent less then I did to get to stage 1.

The C55 is nice/great street car, but the C5 Vette will be faster around a track... the C5 has better handling & better acceleration out of the turns & can keep it for a greater number of laps. I've played cat & mouse on the track with my former C55 and a bud's C5 FRC (we're pretty equal drivers) that was totally stock & the C5 was always quicker. Not to mention the C55 will start to heat up & the engine computer will reduce power after a fair amount of really hot laps. Without the LSD the C55 can't put it's power down out of corners anyway. The C55 is a great street car, so use it in that way & enjoy it. It's NOT a serious track tool unless you mod the heck out of it, and there aren't really many mods for it anyway.
