Valeo radiator or Behr?

I want to see how many C32 mainly 2002 who still have the original Valeo radiator with no issues.
I also want to see who has the updated Valeo and the Behr.

I ask cause the Dealer told me it was a batch of original valeo radiators and not all...I have the Original Valeo with no issues yet. Knock on wood.

I have the updated Valeo in my car. I had the tranny jerk and the stealership changed out my TCU, radiator and torque converter.

For us idiots that haven't been following along as of late, how do I tell if my valeo is updated or not?

Thanks in advance.

I had a glycol test done and it came back below the lower limit of detection so I should be fine. I have the updated Valeo though.

Can you explain what the tranny jerk was. I just have not taken the time to research. What I have to do is do some research here and find out the main things that go on the C32 and see if I can get those addressed before the extended MB warranty runs out.

Thanks

Erick I owned my C32 for 1 1/2 years and been fortunate. I don't know if radiator is indeed original cause I bought it used with 42k miles. If it hasn't broken in all this time adding 20k miles why should I worry? And I don't remember how Jerry checked my date on my Valeo radiator so can you or Jerry put how to here please so others can check.

I am not doubting you I just don't want to replace it if it was replaced prior to my ownership. I was warned by Jerry about mine being original but MB told me it was a batch that was effected thats why I put up a poll.

As I remember seeing Jerry check mine...if you look on passenger side of engine bay on top of radiator it will have a sticker showing date manufactured..now its not easy to get to and light helps alot. If I am wrong please someone chime in.

Yes that's right. And even though yours has not failed. It's a $300 preventative fix vs a $3,000 transmission job. Not to mention - all radiators need to be replaced eventually.

Very true...I have been offered a Behr and might just change it before the Spring.

If you have a Behr radiator, you will eventually die.

Or a Valeo, or even if you don't own a car at all.

More to your point, obviously all things will fail eventually. Do you have basis to believe that all Valeos (older and newer) will fail prematurely?

Dealer replaced a few things for me too...but I am feeling it again slightly now but very hard to notice now...maybe this cold weather.

Is there a list that states manf dates for the bad ones? Like if it is before ?/?/2???? then you do not have the updated Valeo. Or if it is ?/?/2??? or after you have the updated Valeo.

I had a new Valeo fitted last year after my original one failed

I was worried that this may also fail at some point in the future but was told that the original design had been changed 5 times from the start of production, the last change taking place in 07
so any faults should have been sorted

i think all the info you need is on the site just do a search. production # for the rads etc.

i have a 9/01 build date so i did mine as soon as i found out about the issue. it's a no brainer guys the $300 is insurance against $3000++++.

Swapped out the old Valeo for a Behr. Caught it just in time, as a glycol contamination test revealed trace amounts.

I had seen a Behr sticker underneath and thought everything was copasetic. Turned out to be on the heat exchanger…as verified during the LET upgrade. Oops!

A DIY link.

*off topic*

Thanks, Erick.

Since the transmission is okay, there’s enough in the budget for a LET pulley.
We’ll catch up soon.
