HE self burping

Okay guys, I put Code3's larger HE in last weekend. Pretty striaght forward after you get the bumper cover off. After talking with Erick and Jerry, GREAT guys, I burped the new system by taking off the small water line that goes to the rad over flow. You can't miss it as it is right in front of you when you have the engine cover off. Anyway, ran the engine up several times until I had water coming out of it. Okay I thought I was done.
Drove the car yesterday, and the check water light came on. I poped the hood, and sure enough it had drank all of the colant out of the overfill tank.

Does this imply that the HE/Intercooler are self burping, since I thought it was filled, and it drained out the rest of the over fill?

I am guessing, it does just that, which means YOU CAN'T MESS UP BY DOING THIS PROJECT YOURSELF

Any thoughts guys?

See yeah

Update:

Okay after talking with Erick, LET, and thanks again Erick. It appears that the HE does INDEED burp itself.

With that said, it is one LESS thing that should prevent all of you from doing this mod yourself. It REALLY is mandatory if you get a pulley and want to stay consistant guys.

ANYONE else care to chime in about this?

See yeah

So are you guys not isolating the fluid from the engine coolant with the upgraded HEs ?

I did not, and MANY others haven't as of yet, including MOST of the E55 guys which have WAY more heat then us. Two that I know of, put tanks in their trunks for the HE, and Code3 sells a kit for isolating the circuit. This could be used with ICE for dragging with VERY good results I would bet.
After a track event this spring, I will evaulate the need for this seperation by datalogging the IAT's. The circuits are kind of seperate in stock form, however they do SHARE the overflow tank, which does get hot. Only a hard day at the track will tell me if I want to go this route, so far I don't feel it is required, however it has been cold here in PA.

Hi all,

Had the Code3 HE installed today in sunny brisbane. Both my mechanic and i both noted the superb construction and finish on the unit! A truly first class job! Also, i can say from experience that the packaging the unit came in is also fantastic. Some moron at Australia Post left a 20kg (44lb) box on top of my HE!! I saw it and almost cried, but...after unwrapping the unit not a mark on it!

So, top marks to Brandon on this unit and i hope many other mods become available for this superb car.

Hey camel 2:

Does your car have the bi-xeon lights? I only ask because I had to re-route ALL of the headlight washer lines to get my HE from Code3 to fit. Nothing major mind you, just something I wasn't expecting to have to do. And OH YEAH, Brandon does package them great!!

See yeah

No, unfortunately i have the standard boring frosted headlights! Would love to upgrade but factory xenons are ridiculously expensive and am unsure what other options are available and work.
