Nice car Irry. I'm also from SA, Gauteng. Drive a silver C32.
Regarding heating up, You will feel that the footwell heat up when you drive hard. I permanently put my a/c on to cool my feet. When I race I switch it off.

Hey fellow south africans!
Welcome to the forum, yes i agree that foot wells definately heat up when driven hard....
What mods have your cars got, have you had any dynos done? what are your numbers? Also if you have had pulleys or interesting things done to your cars where in South Africa did you get them done?

My plan currently is to drop the front a little at Big Boss and then remove the resonator and install BMG filters(available at Autostyle R550 a piesce).
After that I'll go the Sportech route and refurbish and polish my wheels.
Sportech also do the C55 bootspoiler.

Welcome.
I've never seen a Cubanite Silver C32 before (if that is indeed the colour). Looks good!
My C32 used to get quite warm in the footwell when driven hard so I think that's normal.
BTW, what does your personalised reg say?
I was very fortunate in being able to get rid of the C32 nearly three weeks ago and replace it with this:
I absolutely love it. Best thing I ever did. I think I need to update my profile

[QUOTE=fredersr;2714432]I phone around a few places to find out who's doing mods om mercs. So far only Rob Green Motorsport and Sportech gave me feedback. Rob can do the Pulley mod with software tune for +/-R15000 if I remember correctly. Sportech do the filters + software tune for about R6000.

Hey thanks for the info.
Yeah i just installed K&n filters just last week, same price as the bmc ones you quoted. i would love to start doing pulley upgrades and things just so crap scared of warranty going out the window...
But i am keeping a very watchful eye on the new supercharger pulley mod by code3. this looks like the answer... and quite reasonable.

Hey quadpipes you lucky bugger, awesome upgrade, i have thought about this so many times, but not sure it is a big enough upgrade to warrant the huge extra outlay in cash. As a matter of interest was it a big jump from the old girl? What do you prefer of the 2.
Thanks man.

C55 vs C32 in a nutshell
In a nutshell, biiiiiig difference.
Very briefly - C55 much more refined than the 32. Handling has definitely been improved over the 32. I have a twisty or two where I have been able to compare. The 55 feels a LOT more 'sure footed' on the road.
The gearbox in the 55 is also more refined and I can feel the difference in gear changes. Where the 32 would slam the car into gear under a heavy right foot, the 55 changes effortlessly. I love the manual mode and there's a great sense of achievement when you get your changes just right. Comfort mode is awesome in traffic. Throttle response in Sport mode is also better than the 32 where my adaptive gearbox was a bit too adaptive...
Consumption is about the same as the 32 (believe it or not - I didn't at first).
The interior of the 55 is a MUCH nicer place to be. The vehicle wasn't slapped together in an attempt by MB to produce something as quickly as possible to grab some market share from the M3 buyers. The finish and attention to detail cannot even be compared to the 32. And I love the HK sound and full screen, colour sat nav
I do miss a bit of the 'hooliganess' of the 32 and that's about it.
Also, the reliability of the two models cannot be compared. I hope you don't have any hassles with the chargers (Sandown Rosebank tells me the current replacement price/charger is R35K ).
Did you do a full maintenance check on the vehicle prior to purchase?

I even went further and upgraded the maintenance plan for full cover till 160000kms. so yes am rather anily cautious.
Well done on your purchase sounds like a valuable upgrade.
PS: You right i am finding damn hard to believe that fuel consumption figures to be the same, thats awesome.
O yes have you checked any numbers on acceleration to see if it out performs the "old girl" or even better have any dyno's done?
Cheers

I need to replace the bearing on my babe. The delares have quoted me R13,000 for the flabe kit excl labour.
I sawe a thread that showed I can buy the bearing for US$18 in the states.
Where is the best place in Joburg to get my bearing changed

I bought my bearing(NSK) from General bearings in downtown Joburg(Close to Lindsay Saker)(80 Heidelberg Road)
I think the price was R85. To press it in cost me R50.
It took me about an hour including the press job to change the bearing. Merc also wanted about R15000.
