Aftermarket C55 Exhaust

I am looking to do a custom exhaust on my 05 C55 but not sure where to start and don't want to do a bs job. I was wondering if anyone has done it and if they have either sound clips or video clips to help me decide what to do?

just delete the resonator and you should be good to go.

I agree, if you want a better, deeper, slightly louder sound then remove the resonator and replace it with either a straight through pipe or an X-pipe.

N/A
I will third the motion to just remove the resonator. You can get it done for under $100 and it it's a much better exhaust note. I just had it done a few weeks ago.

If you need more after that, then look into something more serious, but just like the others, I think that you'll be just fine with the reso delete.

Remove the resonators replace with the X pipe, 200 cell Kleemann primary catalytics and if you can get their Headers as they also come with the cats rather than buying them at a later stage.

I've heard that on a N/A car like the C55 you should use the X-pipe instead of a straight through pipe so as not to lose any torque. I'm not sure if this is true or just a myth. Perhaps those that have done it both ways can chime in??

an x pipe would be a benefit if the car had true dual exhaust, the c55 doesnt.

All you have to do is remove the rear cats and resonator, replace with an x-pipe and make it dual all the way to the rear. No big deal

not a big deal at all. unfortunately, depending on where you live, removing the rear cats can fail you for smog inspection. ive been wanting to do something for a while now, but i just deleted the resonator until i can make up my mind. i really wish someone would come up with a decent bolt on system.

Well, get some highflow cats and duals to the mufflers. It should pass inspection without a problem.

exactly what has been on my mind. it looks like there is plenty of room to run 2x2.5 through the tunnel, the only part that looks tight is where the relief is on the rear sway bar. there is only one on the drivers side.

It can be done with some good mandrel bending.
