Line locks/roll control stupid idea? work? wont work?

I was just talking to a friend that drags alot and we were talking about line locks for cars that drag. Mercedes seem to be a good new staple at the track these days. But it seems all of them have a hard time getting good heat on the tires. On the other hand most seem to hook up well. I'm almost sure line locks are not made for our cars. But could another system be adapted to work for us? Drag slicks + line locks = hot sticky tires. Faster 1/4 mile times? I don't know just a thought. It would be nice thought to just lock up the front wheels and lay down a nice burn out before racing. since my C55 cant do a brake stand.

I don't have an answer but I am still amazed you can't perform a brake stand with your C55..

I cant and its a shame. I got a bunch of HP and cant do a brake stand. I could do one in my 82 camaro with a crappy 305ci no problem. I could do one in my old 190E but cant do one in a C55 AMG. If I'm missing something please tell. However I can do a Doughnut like the best of them

Question

It just seems weird thats all. If another owner of a C55 can chime in I like to learn if this is common on C55?

There is a sticky which is dyno mode. Dyno mode plus LSD equals 5 minute long brunouts. LOL

I was thinking of the dyno mode the entire time.

I had a linelock on my s10 (w/ a stroked and injected small block). It was a relatively easy install. However- that was back in the day when there was no such thing as ABS or any of the other computerized goodies. I am thinking it might be a little hard and a tad bit of overkill to do it in a Benz. Besides, all AMG's are automatics- there's no reason not to be able to heat the tires. A might cut you a little slack if it was a stick, but even then- that's pretty easy to do also once you figure out the foot work. Something else to think about- a linelock isn't going to make you any faster (depending on the type of tree you run)- if your hand isn't quick. You hold a button down to engage the lock and let go of the button to release it.......Light turns green, you're on the gas- problem is, you're still on the brakes too

Dyno mode absolutely turned smoldered the back tires! So Now there is no need for this thread. I would have to say after a burnout on the track shut the car off pull the key and restart. Your going to want ABS when your stopping at 100+mph and dyno mode shuts ABS off. thanks guys for the help

You certainly do not need ABS to stop the car at 100+mph. Not unless you're trying to stop within 20 feet of the end of your run...
At the track you have as much distance to stop the car as you did to get down the 1/4 mile, and I know that with mine in dyno mode I was able to easily stop and make the first turnoff when exiting the strip.

At the track (drag strip) you should be in dyno mode, and easily be able to do your burnout thereof, as well as easily stop at the end of the run. I had a buddy tell me my burnout looked like John Force in a MB...
