Newbie - Looking for Best HP/Tq Mod

Hello:

I just p/u a 2003 C32 this afternoon. Wow, what a fantastic car

Anyhow, the mod bug has got me already, and being the adrenaline junky that I am, I want to know what is the best HP/Tq mod for these vehicles.

Ultimately, I would like the vehicle to make 400 rwhp.
I am already signed up for the GB on the Quaife LSD.

Thanks for your help

It's not gonna add horsepower but I would change(upgrade) the intercooler pump first thing. Because when it stops working you will have 25rwhp no matter what.

Who sells the IC pump? LET, or Code3?
Thanks guys. Please keep the great advice coming

LET has the johnson pumps. Are cars are famous for the intercooler pumps going out. It is worth the peace of mind of replacing it. I would also get an upgraded heat exchanger since our cars suffer from heat soak. I picked one up from LET and installed it last week. Code3 also carries a nice heat exchanger. From here I would start looking into a larger crank pulley or a smaller supercharger pulley, plugs, wires, tune, headers, etc. I just do what my budget allows. After cruising the forums for a while you will know what goodies to add to your ride.

Well since you are asking for high RWHP/TQ then only the largest crank pulley with headers, better wires, better plugs, ECU tuning, Cams, intake mod with aftermarket filters ,etc and NOS will do GL!

Getting the Quaife was a great start!

Heat soak is an issue so a larger heat exchanger and higher capacity intercooler pump are recommended...

Ok the OP stated he is desiring 400 RWHP/TQ so sorry but the S/C pulley with his intake mod won't accomplish that...to my understanding its comparable to a 178mm Pulley right? Also you mentioned only one item so is the S/C pulley and intake mod added to the list I wrote in post #6?

i should've been more clear, the best bang for you buck mod seems like the code3 pulley. $600 for 30whp seems like a pretty good deal to me.

If the OP would have stated that's he is on a budjet I would have mentioned it. Also that pulley with intake mods yeilds about 30 whp so since he would like closer to 400 whp then I can't see how based off the claims that 400 whp is acheivable unless Code3 can prove otherwise with the S/C pulley. They highest possible solution at the moment to my understanding is the Largest crank pulley and ECU tune with the other items I posted. If my thinking is incorrect then Code3 can correct me by all means. GL...

P.S. It's $600 just for the S/C pulley which we aren't exactly sure what whp it yeilds alone without intake mod....so $600 for 30 whp is incorrect. Depending on the intake mod it could go up to $1k(estimate) with aftermarket filters...

If it were me......

Johnson pump
Tune
Headers
Wires
Plugs
Heat Exchanger
Pheneloic Spacers
K & N's (2)
181 or 185 crank pully
LSD
and get rid of the resonator

Then also look at some of the suspension stuff. I am personally waiting on the Code3 SC pully for more testing before jumping on the band wagon.

The pulley AND intake mod package are on the code3 website for $699.

Ok I checked the website and great price but it don't mention cause I didn't see it if aftermarket filters are required or needed or used in that dyno...so worse case scenario you can add another $80 more for K&N filters so still closer to the $1k estmate I mentioned. Its great but until I hear members trying it and having good results on other dynos and track its still to new to me and it still not as powerful as an Ecu tune and 181mm pulley. Its a great deal if you are stage one...

Maybe we should have a modded 178mm crank pulley with similar mods go against a Code3 S/C pulley with similar mods on a track

You know maybe I am reading it too fast but the gains from S/C pulley and intake mod shows

"Peak gains - 30.9rwhp/37.7rwtq Power curve - 35rwhp/40rwtq...but stand alone S/C pulley Bolt on 24rwhp and 36rwtq in 15 minutes"
and intake separately 4-7RWHP "After testing a tremendous amount of intake configurations, we finally hit a home run. On a stock car, we picked up 4-7rwhp/rwtq across the entire rpm range. Used in conjunction with our supercharger pulley, we picked up 12rwhp/5rwtq"

Something seems wrong here but maybe its me reading incorrectly

But I wonder how well this intake mod will do with a crank pullied car?

No matter what we are not gonna make the OPs desired 400whp with this setup.

After doing some research on the board, and getting some valuable feedback and experiences from several members - I have decided to move fwd with the following:

+ Quaife LSD
+ 185mm Pulley
+ LET Tune
+ Colder Plugs
+ HE
+ IC pump
+ SL55 Intake

What do you guys think? Noticeable difference?

Good choice of mods and yes there will be a significant difference. It will actually feel like a different car.

Good choice! I am waiting to see what Code3 has for the intake mod. I likey the sound it makes and its supposed to be good for a couple HP's. Just wish they would give a hint to when its coming out.

I definitely think you will like your car alot more..but no headers the LET version seem good for 15 rwhp...as for the SL55 intake is it the splitter only or the whole thing with airbox and filters? 1fastc32 uses or used to use Denso IK22 Iridium plugs.

+1 - completely agree, you'd probably want to add LET's headers to your list.

If not though, I'm sure you'd still notice a huge difference - probably one of the quicker Stage I cars out there (due to boost level of 185mm pulley, and the Quaife LSD for traction). GL

This is my current setup except the LSD. My ECU/Pulley (181mm) combo is RT. I made 362 rwhp. You will definitely notice the difference.

I'm warning you. You'll be needing rear tires every 3-4 months.

Don't forget to remove your resonator. You will enjoy that as well.

Since the addon of bigger pulleys and stuff I say faster then a stage 1 imo......he's like a stage 1+ or 2(with headers) either way we need to place a mbworld decided stage level cause soon with certain mods coming out well the stage level is gonna be confusing..
