2003 CLK 55 AMG VS C32 AMG

Which wins in acceleration 0-60 and 0-100?

What about handling who does it go to?

This is of course both cars stock with the same driving skills?

I have not had the opp to sit in a CLK 55 so I am also wondering how much roomier inside front and back the CLK is over the C32 if any.

I think the coupe CLK55 has advantage on handling over the c32 4 DOOR!!! base from my experience between a coupe and sedan.

C32 has more room in the back and has three 3-point safety belts not just two

Now for the most important speed

Who wins 0-60 and 0-100?

Thanks for the responses. Reason I asked is I found one local that is a 2003 with 25K miles for $29,000 or BO. Says like new no paint work 1 owner. I did not think it was too bad of a deal.

CLS, SLK, ETC
I would say they are about same.. C32 may be a lil faster due to lighter weight.

LET C32 2002
Question

Darn..........you move fast! The C32 just got out of hibernation and you already looking keep in mind I believe the CLK55 is naturally aspirated so to mod won't be as cheap as your C32...by the way are you coming to Chicago I believe you said it was next weekend or late during the week?

The reason I have started looking is I really need a manual. I love the power of the C32 but if I am not shifting I do not feel one with the car. I just saw that CLK listed locally and did not think it was to bad of a deal. I am always looking.

If I can find an E39 M5 at a good price I am going to jump on it and get rid of the C32. If not I will hold the C32 another year and get the S/C pulley upgrade.

1. easier to launch with auto 2. couple mods on the M5 probably doesn't add much 3. drag race has more to do with torque.

two C32s with monolite at the end of the vid

I agree with you 100%. I'm sharing what I witnessed.

The C32s are 1FASTC32's and mine.

Nothing like your mag article... plain sick Frank.

I was really thinking of switching to a E39 M5 late last year.

I had three issues that made me stay with MB

1. Weak Clutches
2. Older styling for such a high list $$$
3. VANOS

I joined the M5 forum and it seemed like every page had something bad written about the VANOS engine mangement system. I guess it is like $10,000to replace.

I still really like them, but i would probably save up for a E60 M5

My next door neighbor's M5 crapped it's transmission with less than 60k on the clock. Known problem with the M5 6spd involving a pin internal to the transmission. Interestingly, the M5 is apparently the only BMW that uses that particular tranny. Big dollars to replace it with no guarantee that it won't recur. Despite the low mileage, BMW said he was on his own. The third-party warranty company had to be sued to make good on the warranty. Major PIA.

My best friend owns a E39 M5 and it's a great car. He's not had any issues with his and his is a 2003.

Also when I've spoken with multiple people who have had the E60 and the E39, the E39 wins hands down as far as preference.

If you get a 2001-03 you should be fine with the Vanos issue. Believe it was adderessed by then

I'm not sure who you've been asking but the vast majority prefer the E60 and it's in a totally different performance league. The E39 is a classic but when a new model comes out the owners of the prev. gen are hard to accept that things move on.

As for E39 M5 vs W208 AMG well as regards the straights their is greater driver error with 6MT so the youtube clip is merely reflective of that. They are fairly close, however.
