VRP Paddle Shifters

Has anyone bought and/or installed these yet? Curious as to how well they work. Also, if they are difficult to install. Seems easy enough, but then again it seems nothing on a Mercedes is easy.

Feedback is appreciated.

Is it just difficult because you have to remove the steering wheel and such?

My lack of knowledge has me asking this question

"Can the C32 be outfitted with paddle or any kind of steering wheel shifters?"

If you're talking about the VRP ones in E55 section, It should be easy. If you know what u'r doing you doing even need to unscrew the airbag.

The VRP paddles simply replace the grey part on your buttons. (The black housings remain on the steering wheel)

To my understanding the answer is

"No."

In reality, ANYTHING can be done if you're willing to shell out the $$$. I'm sure you could have your C32 converted into a 6-speed manual, if you were willing to pay out the nose for a lot of custom-fabbed parts and endure a few headaches along the way.

Consequently, I highly doubt it's impossible to tap into the C32's tranny wiring and add steering wheel buttons or paddles that send the same signal to the TCU as a nudge of the shift lever left or right. It would just be time, money, and labor intensive - for a fairly negligible gain, IMHO. Personally, I wouldn't bother - just save the coin towards a car that already has the paddles (like a C63 )

Old thread, but we never got much of an answer on how these paddles feel. One person said they were very difficult to install, but others say otherwise.

Yes, it can be done i have had both C200K Sport and C55 fitted with paddle shift all of which was done by a genius with a star machine. The cost of this mod was £195 plus cost of new steering wheels with paddles, and small cost removing and removing and refitting wheel, airbag etc. If your car 04-07 should be no probs.

I never put mine on after all the trouble in the E55 forums about issues with the C55 paddles.

Yep he just sold them to me <------ Just messing with ya.

Stay away from them unless you want to seriously mess up your steering wheel. 2 tube of crazy glue some legos and mine are finally working.

Yes you read that right Legos and crazy glue.

LOL! At least you patched it up to work. I've got 2 broken buttons and heard from another member that I need to replace the entire wheel.

So I bought a tiptronic CF wheel but it did not come with the buttons or paddles! I'm back to square 1.

Hello
Yes it can be done but you will haft to go very SLOWLY with a dremel the the strearing wheel. You will retain your air bags ect. The paddles I used are the AMG ones. Once you do this mod you can't go back to the button shifters. If you are intersted I can sell you the paddles cheap and show you how ( I bought an extra set for a friend and he totaled his car the day before we were gonna put it on) Anyways it can be done..you just haft to go very slow my friend.

Mike is right. I have the C63 paddles in mine. They look great and work fantastic but, dremmling out the OE steering wheel for them to fit takes a long time, a lot of patience and many test fits. Night and day difference from buttons.

I actually was able to order the replacement shift buttons for my C55 for $92 from my local dealer. Now I can either return my CF wheel or order a set of CF paddle shifters from http://www.automotivedezignz.com for $209 and install them on the CF Wheel from www.performanceproducts4benz.com and it would match perfectly.

Has anyone tried the autodezignz paddles? Do they work? Easy Install?
