Well, my extended warranty is working!

When I got my C32 with 80K miles on it I bought an extended warranty through my credit union who is the lender. It cost me $3k but its paying for itself already. I took it in for a "clunky" front end and a faded instrument display. The dealership is replacing the bushings, cotrol arms, sway bar endlinks, AND instrument cluster! The total bill is $2200!

That's great Chris! Good move on the warranty. Other common issues are the seat control modules and the seat heaters.

Remind the stealer not to touch your ECU.

Good to hear that...smart move with extended warranty! I recently got 94 E320 with 80k, I was able to get extended warranty on it, it's easier to sleep at night as well!

Yeah I'm glad mine has one through 09 since I've got a ton of things to get checked in this next service:

IC pump
emergency brake pedal
windshield wiper reservior leaks
Right mirror doesn't return to level setting
nav doesnt communicate with the cluster
A/C vents blowing oddly

But it already paid for itself with the bad rear diff replacement.

wow that is a lot! i had a clunky front end for 2+ yrs and no one at the dealership could figure out why. they kept replacing the control arms and swaybar links and whatnot. i go down to another dealership and one of the mechanics drives it. turns out my clunking noise resulted in my needing new motor and tranny mounts.! that was an expensive job. thank you for that warranty is right, though mine is up in two months. i think im gonna buy a 3 yr extended, though its like 4500 through my dealer

Your warranty covered brakes? Wow... that is good - usually they're viewed as "consumables" and aren't covered unless the part(s) are noticeably defective.

Can you elaborate on the windshield reservoir leak? I have a leak but I can't locate it...

Interested in knowing the company that is backing your warranty? The 3rd party warranty companies that I've seen usually won't honor the warranty payments if taken to a dealership (they usually have 3rd party mechanics that they have on a "list" that they want you to send it to.

My extended warranty is paying off too. IC pump yesterday and the headlight washer pump 6 months ago. Still 15 months of warranty left.

Your warranty covered the glycol test and brakes? I take it you don't have yours through Mercedes?

AMG4EVER:

When I have them find out where it is, I'll let you know for sure. I've refilled mine 3 times in the last 3 months with over 2 liters each time. Keep in mind I've only used them for about 6 sprays in that time.

When I first bought the car I noticed the problems and got it fixed for free. It was thru carmax. Heres a previous post.

I picked up a platinum extended warranty to 100k through Mercury (only excludes wear items and interior trim) for about $2.5k -- haven't had to use it yet but other members on this board say this warranty works just fine. I have a good relationship with my advisor so my car is currently at the dealers getting its final OE warranty checkup (change gas pump, fuel filter, door seals, tranny fluid & filter, thrust arms, & whatever else they can find) before the OE warranty expires at the end of July.

Regards,

Its a company offered through my credit union and I can take the car where ever I want. I to it to MB because they give me a loaner.

I bought an 02 c32 about a year ago. Since I did not know much about c32's, to me it ran fine. However, sometimes it completely lost power. I took it in and they replaced the ic pump. After that, it had the 1500 RPM jerk issue, and it failed the glycol test. They changed the radiator, torque converter, entire transmission, they even changed the tranny ecu. They also replaced the the bushings, cotrol arms, sway bar endlinks. They replaced the sc pulley too(it was noisy). All I am saying, whenever you buy a mercedes, make sure you get a warranty because you do not know what can go wrong. Fortunately, my c32 is running great now after they put all those new parts on it. Not I feel like I got a new car. It cost my warranty company about $13,000 to fix my car ;-). It cost me ONLY $2800 to get the warranty and only $200 deductible when I took the car in the dealership.

O, yea and almost forgot, they also had to change my heated seat control module, because my heated seats caused my battery to die. And also they changed my licence plate lights.
