c32 rear diff locked up! What to do?
So I was messin around in a parking lot last night doing a brake stand, everything seemed fine when I parked it at home. When I woke up today and pulled out the rear tires were binding! Has anyone heard of this or had it happen to them? Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Don't mean to insult your intelligence or anything, but have you checked to make sure your parking brake isn't stuck? I guess it probably wouldn't be the case if you drove home after the "fun"...

Sounds like the parking brake to me, especially if the car will go foward with ease but wont reverse. You may have damaged the parking brake internals youll have to pull out to drivers side rear brake rotor and check.
Same thing happen to me on my 300SD.

I would say that you probably seized up the bushing in the differential.
I doubt it's the parking brake because you can still spin the tires, which is what the parking brake stops the tires from doing. However a welded/locked differential causes the tires to bind or chirp during a turn due to the fact that while turning the outside wheel spins more that the inside wheel.
There's a post I read a long time ago about a slk32 doing a lot of drifting with a stock diff and he ended up seizing up the bushing on the pin for the sun gears in the diff. One of the wheels was spinning a lot more than the other causing the bushing that the pin rides in to heat up excessively and sieze.
Just look at it as your car asking you to install a quaife!!

Mercedes wanted $2400 to replace with factory rebuilt unit, but my warranty co. said they would only cover $1400 at one of their recommended shops 1.5 hours away. I ended up purchasing a used diff and doing it myself for $850. My warranty co. reimbursed me.
