The pilot bushing repair / location is at the front passenger corner of the trans. There is a black metal panel to remove and it's then visible. The torque spec is crazy low - 8 inch pounds maybe? Parts at the dealer were around $75 bucks not too long ago.

Thanks kjb 55! Any chance you might have the instructions for changing the electronics kit in the transmission as well as the fluid? I figure I might as well replace that while I'm at it as I know it's time.

Kjb55 I'm considering buying the all data subscription for a year. Did you like it? The price for a single vehicle seems very reasonable at $23 a year but I wanted a little feedback. http://www.alldatadiy.com/

For $23 / year it's well worth it. There are gaps in the information, but the newer the car the more complete.

FWIW, I found this service doc really helpful. Its from WIS (2015.01) for a 2005 C55.

might be a dumb question, but can you drive the car with the aftermarket oil dipstick, or is it only for checking level?
